I've been busy on a new project...barely had time to breathe...
Why would I ban RAP, we come from similar stock?

The 2 candidates are Santa Fe, NM and somewhere in the Willamette Valley in Oregon. We have questions about the availability of quality medical care, potential for part time employment, cost of living. My concern about NM is that it is overall a poor state with Santa Fe the notable exception. I don't know whether or not that matters as much to retirees. My wife is concerned about the weather in Oregon. The Willamette Valley gets about twice the amount of rain we get here in the Bay Area, but it does have warm sunny weather, because that is what you need to grow wine grapes.
I'd like to continue wine making on a part time basis. However, it may be time to give that up. I have to undergo two surgical procedures, on on each hand to repair arthritic basel thumb joints. I should regain 100% strength, but they will remain prone to injury if I attempt to do to much heavy lifting.
The first priority is to get the house sold and then we'll dive into the relocation question.

Santa Fe is very small, and to me seemed very isolated. We were just tourists for the weekend, but quickly ran out of things to do.
Willamette from Portland all the way down to Eugene has many wonderful activities and things to do (Wine, city, ocean < 2 hours. columbia river. Of course, the weather could be an issue.
For me (us) the choice would hands down be Oregon.
FYI, Melva and I looked at a location in the area of Yakima due to proximity to both Portland and Seattle, and Walla Walla wine AVA.
JMHO,

I'm with Jay on this one, I love the Willamette Valley.our daughter attended Willamette University in Salem, and we became very familiar with the area. They're not fans of Californians in many of the areas around there, but I could never consider New Mexico.

All of our questions have been answered. We are all in a state of informational nirvana.
Except my airbag light is still on. Oh, and the trunk still smells like gas.
So much for that nirvana thing...

The fuel smell is the hoses all over the top of the fuel tank, the clips are slackened off with age as the hoses have shrunk
The only way to fix it is to drop the gearbox, drop the tank and replace all the hoses and clips

That's what the conventional wisdom said, so about 5 years ago I had the gearbox dropped and the hoses replaced. Made no change whatsoever. I have a "good" vapor canister from PartsHeaven that I am going to put in soon, Maybe that will improve things.

Bet the filler neck and cap have not been done, as it’s a nightmare

An interesting point. I also have the rubber boot that seals the filler tube to the body. PartsHeaven had one that was good that I bought with the expansion tank. I am going to tackle that at the same time, but honestly I have no idea how difficult the job will be.
Martin, if you have advice, please share it as I am unfamiliar with this part of the car. The boot is NLA, but this one is in pretty good shape so it will hopefully do the job.
The cap is new. I tried three different ones and eventually just replaced the seal on the stock cap. It made no difference.
