"NEW POSTS" v. "UNREAD POSTS"
#1

Here is a great idea:

Would you create for us a user specific "UNREAD POSTS" list. this is different than the list "NEW POSTS". It is different because I could log on and press the "UNREAD POSTS" button (located next to the "new posts" button) and there are all the posts I have not looked at since the last time i logged on (in a neat and concise reverse chronlogical list).

This is not the same as seeing today's 'new posts', OR having to look through all of "this week's" posts to find something, or having to look at little symbols to tell me something about the post. If I don't log on every day, I have to search trough a whole week or more of stuff I don't really want to read <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/blink.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> . Also, If I post something late in the evening, it will not always show up the next day because it is now on 'this week' time table.

It would seem that the information you need is already provided (in terms of those little post symbols) in regards to user specific data . Using an "UNREAD POSTS" button is a way to organize this information in a better format for the end user.

"UNREAD POSTS " are not time dependant. I could come back in a month and there may be 100 unread posts. I would pick out a few of my favorites. Then I would simply press the "MARK ALL AS READ" button(same button, two functions) and clear off the list.

THANKS!

great idea, and i will talk to the tech people about it, but i think the software won't allow it

sorry - currently the only way to do that is for you to mark a post as "read" after you have read it, and then change the time frame for your "new post" search, increasing the time it reaches back

i wish - the problem is that i will not have access to the code for the software - there are very real limits to what it can be made to do - some things i just have to live with until they get around to changing it - there are features in each version that come and go too - some i don't want to lose, and some i can't wait to get

nothing's perfect, right?
