New spark plug wires
#21

kim - do you have the plastic cover for your coil?

not sure if it helps an awful lot, but it may help keep the coil clean longer.

Wasn't aware that there was such a thing. Bought the wires really because I needed some and, at that time, we had no Porsche dealer. Had to order them in so figured I may as well get coloured ones. Of interest, they had three colours and I wanted anything but yellow!. But yellow was all that was in stock so I got them anyway.

Is the cruise control cable SUPPOSED to under the cover? I seem to think that it has always been where it is.

Yep. That's why there's that slot on the intake side of the cover.

Kim,

If your cruise control cable has been riding on the top of the cam cover for a long time you should inspect the can cover for a small, smooth worn spot. Mine has one which is less noticable since I painted the cover.

didn't mean to be confusing. sorry.

i was just looking at your coil. mine has a plastic cover that protects the coil to dist cap wire connection. probably not necessary, but must help some.

since the coil is upright, that cap is a good idea to prevent condensation on the terminals, and keep everything there clean as well - there is quite a bit of unfiltered air that hits it from the front of the car
I ordered it online, and an hour later I received email confirmation they already shipped out, tracking #, etc..

[post="20283"]<{POST_SNAPBACK}>[/post]
Yeah, it was too good to be true. And.. I'm not a happy camper

So I wait, and I wait, and I'm thinking by the 8th, bad weather or not, something's just not right. I thought the UPS tracking # was in the link they provided, because it said " to track your order... go to.. LINK " But the link just showed order SHIPPED on 5/2/06. So I call Paragon this morning 7:30 am, speak to Chuck ( nice guy, but that's irrelevant..) who tells me he'll check with the supplier

because it was supposed to be drop-shipped and he'll get back to me " in a few minutes " . By 3 :30 pm ( just a few minutes longer than he indicated ), not having heard anything I called him only to hear that he JUST spoke to the supplier

and on the day they were supposed to ship the wires, they tested the beru connector resistors and the reading was not right, so they did not ship the set and are waiting for some replacements. But did they bother to f*****g call Paragon to advise the customer ( that would be me ) that nothing is happening ? Nooooo. Well, Chuck, apologized for his supplier's oversight and he said he'll call me first thing in the morning by which time the supplier will give him an ETA for the new parts and when they plan to REALLY ship the wires ! Amazing though, my charge slip came in the mail promptly - no difficulties with that at all. Like I said, nice guy, but pointing a finger / blaming your own supplier and dropping the ball, particularly when you send a confirming email that the order shipped, does little for customer confidence.

May be I'm overreacting and venting over a petty thing here, but it's the little things that drive you nuts, isn't it ?

continued.. the supplier is re-ordering new sets, but does not know if it'll be a week, or two, or... before he'll have stock again.

Interesting. I have an order with these guys too: I cancelled an order in place with another retailer (they put me on backorder) and Paragon said I'd have mine end of this week. I have written them to see what's up.

Unfortunately John is in the same boat. As I mentioned to him in a private email, in over 5 years of doing business with this supplier they have never failed to ship same day. The only way we found out about the problem was when we called to check on Dan's shipment. I'll accept responsibility for not following up on each of these orders....we should never charge a card until a product ships. I am glad that each wire set is tested but we will have to work to establish better communication so this doesn't happen again. I apologize to all involved.

I've ordered a few times from Paragon and they've always treated me great.

Jason,

Ditto.

Jon,

I was merely conveying what unfolded in this particular case and though I am convinced it was an anomaly, it is nonetheless frustrating .. The silver lining:

it's great to know they test these things before they go out , because receiving something with a glitch would be be exponentially more frustrating than the waiting game..

Just to throw my 2 cents in, Paragon (Jason, in particular) has always treated me great and I think everything I have ever ordered got to me in 2 days. I always call and he tells me if they have the item in stock or not. Matter of fact, I'll be calling them today.....

Viva la Paragon!
