New Member..hours to go
#1

Hi all,

just want to introduce myself as I have been 'lurking' here for a while feeding on all the info here.

I am picking up my first 968 in about 5 hours after finding the right one.

It's a '92 Coupe in Cobalt Metallic, 79,000 Kilometers and have bought it from a local Porsche Center here in Dusseldorf Germany.

Up until 6 months ago I was a 'committed' Carrera driver and had to sell it on as I needed money for other stuff...kids, 4 door car, washing machines, kitchen etc. etc...you get the drift.

Missed it every day and have saved enough to step back into the Porsche world.I became fascinated with the 968 after seeing one in Munich...pristine car,, and the bug got me.

Finally tracked one down in the condition I wanted (I am not a handy mechanic at all!) and soon I'll be on my way to pick her up...exciting moments, and plan to take her directly for a 100km spin on a local Autobahn...no limits!

Anyway I'll surely post some pics in the next days and look forward to joining the Club

Cheers

Wow! The newness, it's amazing!

Are you German? I was stationed in Ramstein for 9 years - 86 to 94. Just curious...

Many happy smiles!

Congrats - and welcome to the "smile factor" club. I have no doubt you'll learn exactly what that means.

I get to Germany on business several times a year, and that may pick up if a project we're working on in Senftenberg (near Dresden) comes to fruition. Maybe we can link up at some point. Regrettably, though, I will not have my 968 to run with you.

Welcome Andy,

How about shining her up and posting some pics. What a rare low mileage (Kilometerage?) find.

Options? Mods?

This is a great group, glad to have you on-board.

Welcome Andy

Assuming you took it for a test drive, what were your impressions going from rear engine to front?

As with all new members, I'm sure your aware of the policy to post pics of the new car or be banned.

thanks to all for the welcome....

I'm actually a Brit living in Dusseldorf for the last 20 years and have settled here.

Well am now the proud owner...

Can hardly type straight after taking her out ..the drive feel is so so different from my previous 911/996.

Much more solid, hefty,balanced...not sure if the words are right but this is my impression and the car feels BIG in comparison.

The car is actually from Luxembourg from a collector who owns 13 other cars....mostly porsches.

It had the 100 point check by Porsche here in Ddorf but I do need to take it back next week as the cooling fluid for the airco is not filled

Otherwise ha ve noit found any issues but only drove it for an hour before the typical german summer rain came down.

The car is a standard coupe no mods at all..will get her polished and post ..hopefully tomorrow....I am still excited like a schoolboy be it a 44 year old one.....##cheers

Sounds great. I can personally attest that the combination of 968 and 44 are fantastic!

So here the promised photo's of my new 968....just had it cleaned and polished and fitted a Becker Traffic Pro unit....Am completely happy with the car so far..everything works as it should (hope it holds !).

It is a really clean car in and out as well as under the bonnet.

Took it down to Frankfurt this morning and managed KMH 260 before a car pulled out.Great driving experience and soooooo different form all the other Porsches I see on the Autobahn here.

Anyway here the pics....
