I installed a new set of wires this morning. The recent post on this site really helped because the old ones were hard to remove.
The set I installed
This is the set I put in which is red in color. I have painted the PORSCHE on the engine cover red and I have a red top battery. The new wires really look good with the other reds.
Pictures Larry, pictures!
PICS!!!
This thread is useless without PICS!!

Has technology moved past 1995 when it comes to spark plug wires, or when I replace them should I go to OEM on a DD?
i bought the blue ones from paragon.
they work fine.
not sure on the technology, though.
pics of the blue please - and, did you have to discard the protective sleeve, or was there a way to reinstall that?
flash,
I think that these are the ones.

Ordinary cars with ordinary ignition systems probably won't benefit from the use of our 8mm wire sets. The only problem is that our cars are anything but ordinary. Each of these sets is made from a double layered silicone outer jacket with a solid copper core designed to resist temperatures up to 600 degrees fahrenheit. All sets are made to O.E. specifications and feature orginal Beru connectors that not only fit properly but also have the proper resistance Porsche specifies. Best of all, at our prices, these wire sets are a bargain and competitively priced against the stock 7mm wire sets available elsewhere. Available in Red, Yellow or Blue.
Our Price: $155.00 Product Code: KB_09-002
i have something flash doesn't have <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />
never thought that would happen!!!!!
yep, those are the ones.
fit like a glove, with no mods at all.
they even came with some di-electric grease for sealing up the rubber/plastic connections to help them from getting stuck.
can't say that it made any noticable performance change. it was more of a preventative thing for me. had to replace the rotor and cap, so thought i'd go all the way while i was at it.
they do look pretty cool.
if you're real concerned about appearances, i could email you a shot of the installed product.
lol - yeah - never got to it - car only had 22k on it when i bought it, and only 43k now, and am only now looking at changing them - the ones i have are great - i just want new ones as a part of going through everything
ordering them today
thanks larry
just ordered mine. why ? only 'cause I wanted them in blue ! my set is practically new, but since frivolous spending and this car seems to go hand in hand, I thought I'd stay true to the m.o.
PIMP my ENGINE ! <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/tongue.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />
A quick question for those of you who have done this upgrade, are you still using stock OEM spark plugs, or are the plugs been upgarded to a " better" type to get the maximum benefit with the wires?
Thanks,
Howard
I will pickup a set of wires and some iridium plugs. If I'm gonna go with good wires, might as well throw in good plugs as well, plus change the distributor and rotor while I'm at it. No sense in having an old component to bog things down.

lol - doing the same thing as soon as paragon picks up the danged phone - figures - only when i have little time to order stuff, is the phone busy - in a half hour i'll miss my shipping window and have to wait until next week, or pay a bunch more for shipping
arrrgh
ok - done venting now
I ordered it online, and an hour later I received email confirmation they already shipped out, tracking #, etc..

sorry OT, but Larry I love the color of your car. What is it? Very rare I would think.
not to steal Larry's thunder, I'll let him answer, but I will say this: if you see the 968 in this color "live" ( I did ) your jaw will drop. Nothing more beautiful IMHO !
I got the yellow ones. Shipped same day. Really helped with the knocking.
yeah, I know it's dirty in there - I have 10 pounds of things to do, 5 pounds of time and 2 pounds of patience.
Ooh, very nice! I got some red ones myself. But those yellow wires looks pretty sharp in there. I'll post pics once I get them in there.

Also got a new plate for the cab (sorry, I stole the idea from somebogy else eitehr here on on 968.net).

Kim,
What about yellow cam cover inlays. Would look very cool. BTW put the cruise control cable under the cam cover before is rubs a groove into the cover. Don't ask me how I know.
