yeah - i figure every one of them is going to do this - i am very disappointed in the adhesive - the good news is that the fix will work very well and you won't have that problem again

I have seen your fix pictures on the thread and it all looks simple. I just got my car on the road this weekend and after a quick burn around 200 KPH [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif[/img] I returned home and yes, I have delammed.
For about the same price as shipping it back I figure I'll save us both the bother and buy a pop rivit gun and emulate your fix with some spare AL sheet I have. I gather there's no hidden gotchas with adding these strips?

Rather than ship the heat shield back to Flash/RSB I fixed mine this morning. Here's some pics for anyone who lives far away and wants to do this with a spare sheet of AL. I just modified a piece of AL that I had with an overzealous brake bend in it. Yes, it's not pretty as I only have a vise at home to crimp the edges with. Is there anything holding the smaller aluminum attachment sheet in place? Or is it crimped on tightly enough that you think it will hold? Thanks.

The small plate is crimped quite well and I don't think it will ever budge especially considering the new rigidity of the plate; both sides have effectively trippled in thickness. That was the cooler edge and the glue never let go there. I just put a plate there to future proof the design.

That sucker is so rigid now I would be really amazed if it ever flexed enough to open the crimp. If that ever happens I'll put a couple of tiny bolts in or some high temp RTV. Better yet, I may never see it come loose because the supercharger will block the view [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif[/img]
