well, after a long period of testing, and a few changes along the way, i have just about gotten to the point where i am ready to release the heat shield

this unit attaches to existing hardware in the engine bay, and resides above the header - it reduces the heat allowed to go up over the engine and into the rest of the bay - temps under the shield can be upwards of 300 degrees, but measured above the shield are nearly 200 degrees lower - this results in lower intake temps, which means more power - i have not and will not be doing any dyno testing, as the increases are likely to be very small - it has also resulted in lower oil temps which means increased engine life and oil life

the adhesive on the insulation material is only good up to 300 degrees, and is not holding as well as i would like, so i will likely be adding a riveted strip at the edges to hold it down - as soon as i have that worked out, i can release photos and all the pertinent details

pics and pricing to follow
Can I be on the list for Serial #1, so that it matches my chassis stiffener?
lol - sure - it won't take 3 guys to install it though
I actually have two guys in mind - their first names start with "P" and "M".
yeah - i think i've heard of those guys
Good work Flash. Your single handedly creating a monopoly on aftermarket 968 parts.

And I'm glad!
lol - thanks - wasn't by choice - nobody else would step up to the plate - these cars have so much unrealized and undeveloped potential - porsche left a lot on the table - i'm just picking it up

it has been fun for the most part though
Save one for me, I'll even let you install it next time I'm there --Ortega run ?! ( I trust a case of newcastle will be acceptable currency <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/rolleyes.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> ?! )
lol - i should have them in stock by then - 5 minute install, so yes, we could easily do that then

Save one for me.

Saw the prototype on your car Sunday but neglected to look close (looked good though). Where are the attachment points?

i'll post shots when it's ready
save one for me too!

Brian
YES!!!!! thanks Flash...I.m in.
you gotta love this.. flash did not even indicate what the price of the shield might be, yet posts are coming in with essentially unconditional requests for one - is that "brand trust/recognition" or what ?! <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/rolleyes.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />
we trust flash.

Brian
Who could complain about a quality, well-engineered accessory for $20 shipped to your door?

Tom
$20!?! That's waaaaay too much money! <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wink.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

So when are we going to see the pics and how soon before you get them out? What is the hold up!

roflmao - well, as soon as i finish the little things i am working on right now, i can get to it - i should have sheet metal done in 10 days or so - i'm guessing completion in time for dan's arrival on the 22nd
it better be ! <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/dry.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> you don't expect me to drive in this canyon rally ( rallye ? ) of yours with engine temps as high as they are without the shield, do you ?! <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wink.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />
