Just a quick post to say hello. I just bought a Red 92 968 Cab. I've been a 944S2 owner for the last 5 years until someone in the 4X4 sideswiped and sent me spinning. Car is history, but I believe good always comes from bad... I lost a car I loved to drive everyday, but I have gained a suitable replacement that I've always wanted. I know its going to give me just as much fun.

What are your impressions going from an S2 (cab/coupe?) to the 968? What condition is the new car? Options?

Stats: 92 Red cab, 180 000kms, black interior

Numbers : I think there are only about 7 cabs in the country...

Options : Pretty normal with 8 way seats and A/C and alarm. all working... I accidentally set of the alarm.. After 16 years it still works... scared the hell out of me...<img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

General condition : 8/10

Paint : 7/10 needs a good polish to get it to 9/10.

Mechanically : New clutch, bottom end, radiator, water pump, alternator, starter. Cam chain, cams and tension pad all good.



Picked up the car on Saturday and dropped it off yesterday for all filters, fluids, front belts and thermostat. Pick it up in Saturday...



I must say, in the 56km I've driven it, I still have the S2 Coupe very fresh in my head and the 968 feels heavier and bigger.. The S2 had 2.5" pipe and had a low rumble at idle, a beautiful resonance at 4000rpm and an invigorating life assuring scream at 5500.. I will miss it. That being said, I haven't given the 968 a chance as I've barely been anywhere in it, however, on the way to garage, I did start getting that grinning feeling....but I had to contain myself till all the belts and stuff are safely replaced.



Sound wise... its very different, but I love it.. and with the top down its even better...



I've already got the airbox mod, the hood liners, chip, skirting and door handle gaskets lined up...



Since owning the 944 S2, I've always also monitored the various 968 groups (just in case <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />) and I was really happy to see this place appear and being well stocked and supported.

Bruised ribs and a broken heart.. ribs are fine now and so is heart <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />



Saw the car this morning, all good and ready to rev ... pick her up tomorrow morning... <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/biggrin.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />



Will give her a good clay, polish and wax this weekend and go for a good drive and get some pics or all.



Just a side note... Flash thanks for bringing this 968 site to life.. I was worrid when the other one died. the DIY stuff is awesome and I hope to contribute as time goes by...

Welcome to the wonderful world of Porsche 968 ownership! The exhaust can be made to sound great just by deleting the rear muffler and extending two pipes straight out to the rear. Bonus is the 30 pounds of weight you lose. Good luck, Bob Blackwell.
