Need Help with Wheels
#1

I have a set of Gemaballa Lemans wheels I bought last year with the intent of using them on my 996 in the winter. I ended up selling the car last month. The wheels are really nice 5 spokes, never on a car. I put them up for sale on rennlist and a guy told me they would fit my 968. I have my doubts, but I would like an opinion before putting them on and trying it, and risking scratching them up a little in the process.

Fronts are 8.5 x 18 ET 47, rears are 11 x 18 ET 62. I had some all season tires put on the wheels so I could just change them out in the garage this winter when or if it got cold. They are 225 x 40s and 295 x 30s. I 've had 10 x 18s on my 968 before and they were tight, but I can't remember if there was any more room or not. If I can make them work, I would like to put them on the 968, rather than sell them. No one is buying much of anything now anyway, and I'll never get what they're worth. I have at least three other sets of wheels that do fit the 968, and most of them would sell quickly and cheap. These Gemballas have the cup2 look, but have small polished lips all the way around, silver spokes, and are pretty light weight.

The fronts might just fit if the car is not lowered. The back is gonna be real tight.
You'd probably need to add some camber and a fender roll.
Why don't put them on and see what needs to be done? Would only take few minutes to know if could make them work or not.

I've seen a few late offset 951's running 11's.

I saw your ad, they are nice wheels. I'd consider them for my early offset 951, but there out of my budget.

Agreed,

jack up one side and bolt on the Gembella front and back. Slowly lower the car and check clearance. bet they fit!!!

if you want to "theorize" call Alan at Wheel Enhancement 310/836-8908.

When one of my red M030 cars was being serviced Alan came down to the shop and measured the 968's "clearance."

I've had Kinesis and various Genuine Porsche 10"x18" rear wheels with 285 & 295 width tires and there was still gobs/tons of clearance for more.

Thus, just yesterday I was thinking of trying a set of Genuine Porsche GT3 wheels (which have 11" rears). Said to be one of the lightest wheels yet!!!
