My new 968 cab...
#1

Well, this past weekend I drove 600 miles each way to see a special lady.

Deposit has been provided and I hope to pick it up in two weeks.

I am, as they, as giddy as a school girl right now!

Some detail (pics to follow later):

1994 968 Cabriolet

Speed Yellow exterior

Black interior

6spd

43,xxx miles

I'll try to create an album with pictures. Here's a teaser pic in the meantime....

I'd be "giddy" to! That's a sweet car. Low miles, cool color and it appears to be in good shape. 600 miles is quite a trek for a test drive, but the ride back is gonna be sweet.

Congrats

After I read your post, I scrolled down to check out the picture and my first word pretty much sums up your new baby...

WOW

Congratulations... what a cream puff of a ride <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/biggrin.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Hey Jim,

Congratulations!

That is one sweet ride, and I'm happy to see a SY Beauty go to a good home.

I'm sure that you will be way happier with this than your coupe, since you bought it from such a respected member of the Porsche community.

Good Luck, can't wait to see it,

Jay

Congrats. Nothing like a long trip home to get acquainted with your new gal.

Thanks y'all-

I actually didn't drive it back- I go back in two weeks to get her.

Here's a pic of the engine bay.

I am very happy! 600 miles wasn't too bad- did it in 9 hrs 10 min there and 9 hrs 4 min back, stopping twice each time.

Also, the pinion bearing has been done, and the cab top bow was also done.

Yes, yes it was!

I can't tell you what the thing is- I'd have to have you eliminated. Let's just say it adds about 35 HP / 27 ftlbs....

In all seriousness, it was something he used for his oil change. Nothing of consequence.

Here's another pic from Saturday in the rain...

Didn't take any.

The interior is great. Steering wheel was worn- of course (already got a black 993 wheel for it). Shift lever was worn- of course (not sure what I will do here). One glove box hinge was broken- no worries- I had to do that on my coupe. Original owner had installed a stealth radar which I will completely remove - so some of the blank switch covers were bastardized with little lights. Also, one of the blanks on the dash was converted for an on/off switch. Dash is great. Passenger's seat is great. Driver's seat has a nick in the back, not bad, but the bolster is worn a little. Door panels are in excellent shape. Headliner is in excellent shape. Trunk carpet is in good. E-brake handle and glovebox cover are new. Console cover hinge is on its way out- no biggie. Floor mats are OK- they're floor mats afterall! Cab window is good.

Almost forgot- it has the 993 styles seats (woohoo!).

It wouldn't take much effort to make the car a concours winner. I have no intention of going down that path.

well, the good news is that the interior is black - pretty easy to shoe polish a lot of the flaws away

Wow Jim, very nice, do I have it in the cab registry? You could be the 6th SY cab. If you get it by the 21st you might want to stop over at the 968 GTG at the concours in Eatontown NJ that Sunday.

I believe it is in the registry, so no on the 6th SY cab.

It's a pretty cool story (at least to me) about "finding" it- I'll share more later. The current / soon to be previous owner has been to Hershey numerous times. He has other Porsches.

RS840559? It was in Florida for a while if I recall?

Yep, that's the one. It moved from FL to MI, where I found it. The current owner has had it for about 7 years and has taken excellent care of the car. It has been driven on a regular basis and has not been abused in anyway. He is a Porsche enthusiast to say the least.

I really can't express how excited I am about this! And, there's still a number of wonderful weeks left in the season before it gets too miserable out to drive it often!

I should have held out for a Speed Yellow cab. That thing looks great. Good luck with her.

biotechee, once you get her if you are up for a nice long ride send me a PM. I frequently travel into PA and NY state to explore for new "twisties".

Any options on the car? LSD? Interesting that it has Cup1s (option code 403), the later cars usually (but not always) have the Cup2s (option code 398).
