Motor Mount weird problem
#1

Ok i have bitten the bullet and bought 2 OEM engine mounts and changed them, like before with the cheap ones that i installed the car before, it rattles alot more at idle, i mean serious vibration, coming from the engine, although its all related to the driver's side one, cus when i went back and put the old one it stopped rattling and its very smooth, so my problem is that a new engine mount is making the car vibrate.

I triple checked the balance Belt its dead on, with no vibration at all.

Anyone heard of this before?

I believe that there are different motor mounts for Manual and tiptronics...is it possible that incorrect ones were installed?

vibrations can come from a lot of places - while it is natural to immediately suspect the balance shafts or belt, if service was not recently done, and the marks line up, that is most probably not the issue, as there was no change

when did the vibration start?

was there anything done that precipitated this?

is it across the rev range?

at idle only?

one particular rpm?

is it in gear and out, or just one? if in gear, all gears?

does it happen with the clutch pedal both up and down?

when was the clutch last done?

how is the clutch engagement?

do you feel any shifting or hear any clunking when engaging driveline and taking off?

does the engine itself run smoothly all the way to redline?

have you tried looking at the engine with the hood open, engine running and in a dark garage? did you see any sparks?

are there any buzzing or rattling noises anywhere?

the only other things i can think of are either:

the strut tower brace is making contact due to the new mounts making the engine sit higher

or

that the tranny mount is shot, and the new mount puts something into a place where it makes contact somewhere at idle

or

could be that it's a bad mount right out of the box - it happens - there is a measurement for minimum spec, but i can't remember it right now
