Most expensive MSRP 968????
#1

I thought it would be interesting to see if we can find the most expensive, MSRP-wise, 968 out there. I'm thinking it is going to be a late model, since the prices went up, and a TIP, and a cabriolet. So, the starting price on that car is $55,775 (94/95 tip cab base of $55,050 and destination charge of $725). Now, my 6 speed car has that beat, largely because of the $4,190 full leather interior option. My car's MSRP total is $60,363. So, anyone have one higher? If you have a loaded car but don't know the prices let me know your option codes and I'll work up your MSRP from my DB.

Jeff,

Great idea for a thread! I'm looking forward to seeing the responses. Considering that yours is a '92 and not a tiptronic, surely someone on here will reveal a car with a higher MSRP. Just because I love guessing games, I'll bet that the highest priced 968 revealed in this thread will be $66,500.

I plugged Jeff's $60,363 price in 1991 (assuming that is the year his MY1992 car was sold) into the US DoL's inflation calculator.

Folks should sit down...

In today's money that's $91,892 !!!

Karl.

My insurance company has accepted the car as a classic one. (at least this model is one!) The todays value is 17.500 euro. 25750 dollar. So the bill is very low.....Car is also insured for theft and broken windows. For the amount of 307 euro / 451 dollar every year. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/biggrin.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Price for a Completely Loaded MY 1993 Coupe

Just for fun, I decided to calculate the price of a 1993 Coupe that was loaded to the max! What if...? The final price might surprise you…

Without further ado:

Base Price: $39,950

Leather Interior: $4532

Tiptronic Dual Function Transmission: $3150

Metallic (or Non-Metallic) Paint to Sample: $2498

Sport Chassis with 17-inch Wheels (P30): $2017

Cellular Phone: $1995

CD Player with AM/FM: $1315

Remote CD Changer (692): $1245

Limited Slip Differential (220): $913

Destination Charge: $725

Hi-Fi Sound Package with Amplifier (490): $561

Lumbar Support, Left (586): $551

Lumbar Support, Right (513): $551

Full Power Seat, Left (437): $538

Full Power Seat, Right (438): $538

Sport Seat, Left (387): $314

Sport Seat, Right (383): $314

Heated Seat, Left (139): $289

Heated Seat, Right (340): $289

Protective Side Moldings (418): $350

Headlight Washers (288): $262

Rim Caps with Porsche Crest: $214

Painted Rear Spoiler to Match: $213

Total Price: $63,324

For perspective, the base price of an RS America in 1993 was $54,800, and the cost of a 911 C2 Coupe back then was $64,990.

When I have the chance, I’ll calculate the price of a totally maxed-out 1993 Cabriolet. Until then, happy posting (and motoring)! <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/biggrin.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />
