I have purchased a 968 cab with low miles in good shape, with complete records, but I still like to do my own maint. so I know where everything sits. Here is the list I have thus far, please feel free to add or make manufacturer recommendations.
Cap (Bosch)
Rotor (Bosch)
Plug Wires (RS Barn - Magnecor KV85's)
Plugs (Bosch WR-7-DC Copper plugs)
Oil Filter (Mahle)
Air Filter (Mahle)
Fuel Filter (Mahle)
<acronym title='heater control valve'>HCV</acronym> (Napa Brand)
DME (933 style....coming from Paragon)
Oil (20W50....castrol GTX Dino oil is all I can find.....how does anyone feel about Rotella T6 5w-40 full synthetic?)
Clean <acronym title='mass air flow'>MAF</acronym> (cleaned many a <acronym title='mass air flow'>MAF</acronym> in my day....but this one has a core value of $250?!? Is there anything special about the cleaning process?)
Of course, my belts, tensioner, and rollers are all being replaced. The hoses all appear to be in good shape, I have yet to check for any vac. leaks....as I suspect either that or a bad cap/rotor being the root cause of my slight variation in my idle.....no stumbling....just a noticable +/- ~30 rpm while watching the tach.
