Lights Problem
#1

A few light issues at the moment; when i brake, one front side light comes on, the rear tail AND brake lights come on along with only one of the rear inner tail lights (bulb checked ok in the other). Also, as the car slows from braking, just prior to stopping the speedo needle bounces up and down!

Anyone with any suggestions as to the fault.

thanks

bad karma?

seriously - probably bad grounds, but have you had any of the main connections messed with lately, or have you had the cluster out lately?

i'd also take a look to see if the fuse box has something in it floating around

thanks for the quick reply Flash - checked fuse box, relays appear ok also, dash not been out recently (although it needs to, to fix a SECOND matrix leak!!!!!!) Someone else suggested earth cables - so far checked the rear one on the back panel, on the battery and the front bulkhead to engine...few more to check in a couple of days when i get time. (where are they all?)

Bad karma - too much of it, as mentioned heater matrix to be replaced, incredibly loud squeeling brakes at the moment, awful noise coming through the cage possibly from a squeaking spring plate to torsion mount, a few problemschanging to charlie arms (i'll not go down that one), my BM has a few control arm problems also!

Sorted

Rear stop/side lamp bulb - checked as working, except.....

Bulb has two legs for each filament, the top of which are bent over clamping the filament in place. The bent over part (c1mm long) of one leg had 'unbent' itself and was touching the second filament, thereby feeding good old current into my lighting circuit whenever i braked (and when the ignition was off also into my instrument binnacle!)

Replaced bulb, all well.
