You need a "depends" option. Some cars look nice with these treatments others do not; interior color also make a difference.

+1 on the above. I like both but it all depends on interior colors and the car itself. Carbon Fiber looks better with blacks and grays; woodgrain looks better with beige and browns.
SInce it's the 968 Forum, one can assume what you intended by the poll and I will be more specific on my "depends" answer. I don't really like either in the 968. Was woodgrain even an option? I only know about the shift knob. Now, if there's other wood or carbon fiber somewhere else on the car to tie things together, it can work, but I think it always looks like a DIY type application.

No to carbon, yes to wood. But that's just in a 968.
