After reading years worth of back-and-forth online fights, particularly on the old .net, I've learned that it's much more effective to calmly present the facts in as sober and "polite" a tone as possible, as it leaves the discussion less likely to degrade into an endless series of personal attacks. Also, I find the bickering between the forums to be pretty ridiculous, because it's driven by a few individuals. As 968 enthusiasts, we have a lot more in common than we have differences, and I've had some very pleasant dealings with several people over on R.L.. It's such a shame some people are so blinded by their hatred that their reasoning ability goes flying out the window.

The funny thing is that the very first thread on the 968 forum there (it's pinned), says under the title "Zero Tolerance in the Forums":

It is NOT fine to cast third-party suspicions, as a 3rd party or competing supplier - calling a vendor “shady”, and/or slandering a supplier or person in any public forum. R.L. is certainly no exception.



I don't think the moderator is following his own rules there at all, or that guy would be GONE.

lol - yeah - not much makes sense over there. if you're a sponsor, you can sell whatever you want, and have no responsibility to the customer or the reader. if you're not a sponsor, you can't say anything, or have anybody else say anything, regardless of how factual.



fortunately, over here, it's "just the facts ma'am". frankly i learn a lot more, and get a lot more information on development and refinement of product from the criticisms i get. i can't do much in a vacuum.



as for the brace, i get criticized for the flex in it, even though that is there for a reason, and has no effect on performance, but when another vendor makes one that snaps and destroys a hood, or yet another vendor makes one that gouges every fuel rail cover it is installed over, there isn't a peep.



no worries. i have about 200 of these out there now, and i haven't heard a whole lot of complaints, and have yet to have a failure.

Flash, the first time I removed the 'popular three-initial aftermarket parts company' strut brace from my car - when I was changing out my front struts - half of the strut bearing mounting bolts had messed-up threads. The nuts moved a bit, but would not come off, which resulted in the bolts detaching from the strut bearings (they appeared to be just pressed in, not welded) and spinning free (with much cussing on my part). I had to cut flats on the round heads of the bolts and use vice grips inside the fender well to hold them until I could finally back the nuts off and free the struts from the car. Is this the type of damage to the vehicle you described earlier as a result of not having enough flex or deflection in the strut brace?

Come to think of it, my old Cargraphic brace was a pain in the arse to remove as well - the threads were pretty badly messed up. Never understood why, but now I'm thinking it may have had something to do with the torsional forces that were taken up by the mounting points putting a lot of strain on the threads of the bolts.

hey, let me tell you about the perils of flash's over-engineering this brace ; I left the hood of the car up for just a few moments and my ( newly adopted ) cat jumped on the DR1 strut tower brace, which then flexed and cat-apulted Dexter into the garage ceiling !! you did not factor that risk into your calculations, now did you Bob ?! <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/glare.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Hey, you jinxed Jersey Shore, the show was just given the boot..no new season for them. But I'm sure Gov. Christie-Creme is pulling some strings in Hollywood to get the show back..after all, he's rubbing shoulders with Clint at the RNC.
