Just wondering



The triptronic light on dashboard cluster , ....when in manual mode

When its red whats it mean

When its green whats it mean

Does the green light stay on when driving in triptronic

Hi all,

The tiptronic light should go off after start up and D with gear number should be on If I recall correctly.

I do not recall the light being green though. I'm looking into this as I'm having the tip light on in limp mode

After I unplug the plug (pass side) and started the car.

i don't remember it turning green, but i don't drive it often. it does though, i think it's only green if you are in manual mode

actually, while the owner's manual does not specify a "Tiptronic" mode, and instead refers to the two modes as "automatic" and "manual", it always been our understanding that manual mode is in fact Tiptronic mode. the other "normal" mode is automatic.



now that we are talking about it though, i'll have to go over to the tip car and see if the light ever turns green.

No green lights on my car. Always red, in every mode . But in my car that gear(s) light indicator comes on ONLY if I have the main lights knob turned on to at least the parking lights setting, or fog lights or headlights .

yeah - we know something is up with dan's car though, and the problem is related to the ignition switch. not sure what effect that has on how it operates otherwise yet.

I, m, taking about the triptronic light on the bottom of the cluster

Its red most of the time and it says ( triptronic )

But I, m sure it went green when I put in in manual mode triptronic

Oh, that light ..!? Nothing of the sort shows up on my instrument cluster, only the red dot ( hey, maybe our clusters are made in India ) which shows which gear you're in. But that may also be the result of the probable ignition switch or other gremlin that affects which lights come on and when..

The USA gauge setup has only one light for the tiptronic warning. The bulb is clear and the red comes from the gauge stencil. I notice you're in Ireland which would be a UK based build very different from USA. We get air bags and you get a Club Sport steering wheel on the right. I think you go the better deal getting the club sport wheel. Metric speedo, no air bags. It could very well be you have a slightly different IP than us across the pond. That "red" tiptronic indicator will always be red. There is a provision for up to three more indicators in that area of the gauge though. So it's possible that where we have a Check Engine and Air bag indicator, you could have a green tiptronic light. If that red tip light stays on you're in trouble.

You can exclude the check engine light as RoW spec cars do not have one.
