In A 1995 Coupe removing the rear Speakers
#1

I am going to bite the bullet and have a new sound system put into my 1995 coupe.

The issue is how to get to the rear speakers behind the front seats mounted below the rear glass windows that do not open. I am not referring to the large glass rear hatch but the two small windows. Has anyone removed the rear speakers is my question? One dealer suggested that the rear glass may have to be removed in order to get the rear panels out. Is that true?

Does anyone know how to get to the rear speakers without damaging the screens that covers the speakers?

you have to remove the entire interior side panel to get to the speakers.

do the rear speaker modification while you are in there.  the sound improvement is huge

Thank you Flash for the reply, but my question was in order to remove the entire interior side panels do you have to remove the rear window glass, as one installer thought so.

Also in a coupe where does one put Duromat panels. Do you have to remove all the carpet and put Duromat under the carpet first and then reinstall the carpet? Or do you just put it into the doors? Would you also put Duromat in the trunk area even thought no speakers are back there?

no - the glass DOES NOT come out.  only the trim ring

the DYNAMAT EXTREME goes on every piece of sheet metal you can find.  outer rear quarter skin, outer door sheet metal (not the inner), rear flat deck, spare tire well, rear cubbies, etc.  it will take the large kit to cover the car.  what you are doing is killing exterior road noise.  you are not altering the performance traits of the speaker.  essentially what you are doing is telling "the kids" to shut up so you can hear your stereo.

i would not remove any carpet, other than on the rear flat surface, which is not glued down.  gains would be marginal at best on the floor of the car.
