Well, exactly 5 years, on May 26th, 2006 is when I purchased the 968. It has been really enjoyable. When I bought it, I planned to keep it 3 years (economically speaking), or perhaps I should say I was hoping it would last 3 years. But no, at the time I didn't know how much these cars would really grow on me, and how these 968s are just a perfect balance of all the important car characteristics.
And it has been a journey. From this (from the ad when I found it):
To this, yeah my son drove it into a ditch, insurance totaled it (who is a great guy and I love him very much). I called for a tow truck, he said "this isn't a tow, this is a recovery!".
To this, we bought it back on salvage, did all the repairs ourselves (except wheel alignment and new tires), it was a great experience. In case anyone is interested, I posted lots of stuff here about the accident and all the repairs, search my posts from Feb. - Aug. of 2008.
To, this: car when completed.
It has been great, so I got my 968 back and have still been driving it heavily for the last 3 years.
Thanks to everyone for you support, I've really enjoyed the group, have gotten great help, and the meetings have been terrific when have gotten together.
Keep your 968 forever!
