Mine just fell out, the plastic front grill. Of course I didn't see it happen, so its lost.

Replacement from Porsche is $157.00 and apparently requires being replaced from the inside, bumper removal may be necessary, according to the experts. Anyone know of options, aftermarket ideas?

I'm open to suggestions as I never really liked the plastic insert.

Thanks

Did you call Sunset Porsche for a price on the stock piece? It maybe cheaper then the price you got.

Thanks I sent him an email, but I'm in Canada so probably it won't work out. I will also contact Sunset Porsche as I got my euro lenses from them.

the upper one pops out from the front - the lower one is removed from the inside

Yup. To replace the lower you must remove the bumper fascia. Watch the corner screws. On my car they were actually rivets for some reason and very difficult to drill out and replace.

The Greimann grill is a better solution if you can get the shipping straight.

I believe Doster from this site is making a steel mesh version of the upper grill, which imho is an even nicer solution that Greimann's, but that's just personal preference. You might want to look him up. If I remember right, he's in Oregon. Good luck.

Glad that worked out. Please post pictures when you get it installed. Personally, I really like the mesh look, maybe because it's recently been used on high-end cars like the C5 Z06 Corvette, the previous generation Cadillac CTS-V, and the Jaguar XJR.

I installed a new front grill (little one) 2 weeks before the accident. I really liked the stock grill cover and it didn't cost me much.

Glad to see you back on line.

I had the 968engineering small grill, but after I got the car back from a nose job at the body shop, I noticed that they had bent the tabs back and forth so many times that the grill was trashed. I replaced the grill with the OEM. To be honest with you, I prefer it. It is more hidden and the black color just makes the air opening look better to me. My kids like the custom grill better, but I like the OEM. I don't even think that painting the custom black will look better, but I haven't tried yet.

Keep getting stronger! Best of luck.

Just thought you all might be interested in looking at my "home-made" solution.

Screen mesh of the type used on DB9 (Left over from a friend's Corvette Project) (A real PITA to cut), sealed in (the edges were sharp) and a bit of trim...

I'm not manufacturing them, nothing to gain...can get you more info on the material specs etc. if you are interested.

Regards,

Jay

I personally think that certain 968s look good with a custom grill. A silver one with euro lenses would look great. But silver teeth on a black 968 just doesn't work.
