G's intake DYNO #'s

I had the opportunity to get some free dyno time at EuroTech. They purchased a new DynoPack system and had a demo for the PCA guys in the area.



I dynoed my car with my new custom intake, then I put the factory air box in (which had a high flow GREEN panel filter in it).



My custom intake had more power every place except between 2500 to 3200, where the factory box had about a 2 hp advantage. There was an average of 5hp increase from 3200 to 6700 with a peak hp gain of 8hp!!! It works!!!!. I will try to scan in the dyno graph and post later.



There was a new Carrera S 997 that dynoed as well. It pulled 318hp!! I took a ride in it as well. Simply unbelievable!!! Sooo fast.

that sounds like about what i expected - thanks - i had guestimated 85% of our setup i think, which, based on 10.8 at peak point of our box mod, would be around right - i'd have to look at the charts to see how it stacked up where our box mod actually got more like 13

I must have missed it, but what was your custom airbox setup that you were testing? The swiss-cheese mod? (aka add holes mod)

This http://www.968forums.com/index.php?showtopic=1379&hl= is the most recent of three threads Graham has posted about his intake modification. It is not the airbox modification developed and offered by 968 Engineering. It is based on a cone filter in place of the factory airbox with some impressive install work.



It will be interesting to learn if Graham is quoting "estimated engine BHP" numbers or rear wheel horsepower numbers.



DTS brand dynos which Flash used for testing are known to report higher numbers than the Dynapack which Graham used. Both report higher numbers than the "braggin rights standard" Dynojet 248 and all three report higher than the Mustang Dyno. Additionally differences in weather, altitude and even how hot the car is will cause variations in reported numbers.

i don't know here you get your information, but the DTS does not read higher, in fact generally reads marginally LOWER than the 248, and has a higher accuracy rating than the 248

The hp increases were at the wheels. I dynoed 203 to the wheels (max) with the custom intake (I also have a Racer X chip installed). Another 968 was there and dynoed 192...and it had Flash's style intake, with no chip upgrade (right Carl <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> We wanted to test Flash's intake as well, just didn't have time....too bad. Next time.



I had dynoed my car on a 248 with no mods at all, and pulled 206. I know if I go back to the 248 it should be higher than 206....anyone know the differences between the reading on a 248 and a dynapack?

bummer - that would have been cool to see if the negative pressure testing carried forward and was confirmed by dyno testing



there isn't a simple "x" amount of difference between dynos that you can use to try to compare them - the amount changes relative to way too many factors - each dyno is using information it gathers from a number of inputs and calculating based on that and how its own formula works with those inputs



all you can do really is try to control the conditions, and then test each thing on the same car on the same day on the same dyno, and hope that the intake temps, differential temps very critical, ambient temps, humidity, time between runs very critical, and such stay the same, as any one of which can individually change readings by 10hp - it's a pain, but it is what it is



still - clean install and fun project as well

An 8 RWHP gain is very impressive!



The only published same day comparison of different brands of Dynos that I am aware of is published online at http://www.turbomagazine.com/tech/0306tur_dynodash/ . And suprise, suprise it is free <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />



Graham, where are you located? I bet if you contact him Dave Greimann would be willing to work with you on manometer testing.

I am on my 3rd iteration of the project. When that is complete, I could list all the parts. The heat shield is one of the most important parts....and that was hand fabricated.



I could make a few kits, but I would add a bit of $$ for my time <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

No worries about extra $$$ for time and effort.



Thats what I meant when I said sell it.



Even if you provide a drawing and the other parts I would still pay extra for the IPR.



It's only fair on you



More products for sale for the 968 the better!
