Front Seat Options
#21

Just had a call from my Uncle and my seats are ready <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/biggrin.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> Unfortunately I cant pick them up for a couple of weeks <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/sad.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Interestingly he says the original covers weren't real leather even though though the car has an original Porsche "leather" interior.

Anyone have any thoughts?

part of the seat would have been leather(the panels you sit on), and part vinyl (the back and bottom)

My new seats are in <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/biggrin.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Unfortunately my Uncle couldn't match the colour so I now have light grey fronts in a classic grey interior.

Not sure whether to try and dye them as they look so good.

I'll try and post some pics later.

tough call. They look really good...so why mess with them...on the otherhand, they could look really good and be a closer match to the rest of the interior. OR..uncle could whip up some more of the same leather batch and you can cover the doors, dash, armrest, center console and it would look REALLY great!

I thought about a full retrim, because it would look fantastic.

But, I think I'll live with them for a while and think about it.

Sorting out the dash would be a nightmare though......

wonder how much that would cost if you don't have a Uncle that does upholstery?

pinball: tell us more about the orthopaedic arm rest......

and did your uncle replace any of the seat foam?

dash is not terribly complicated to remove once you have the wheel, center console, and gauges out.....just have to find the screws

Seat foam was all OK with no crumbling or other deterioration, so no extra work there.

Because of my lazy driving style, the stock arm rest was too low. the one in the car came from a toyota. The original frame screwed straight on, but no longer opens properly.

I apologise to the purists out there, but it works for me, it is just the right height for cruising in comfort.

Rhudeboy. I wouldn't like to guess at the real cost, but I was lucky and appreciate it.
I am considering upgrading the front seats in my coupe.

Smokiemon968 has already told me that the 944 sport seats are a direct bolt in, but what others may fit?

I've seen some carrera 4 (2006) seats that my be a reasonable price, but would they be too wide?

All advice welcome.
I've been out looking for seats for my 92 cab and have seen many different Porsche seats available. I would like to know if anyone has a list of years and models of Porsche seats that will drop in without a lot of tooling issues.

Thanks

Ross
