Front Seat Options
#1

I am considering upgrading the front seats in my coupe.

Smokiemon968 has already told me that the 944 sport seats are a direct bolt in, but what others may fit?

I've seen some carrera 4 (2006) seats that my be a reasonable price, but would they be too wide?

All advice welcome.

Since you are in the UK, I would look for Recaro seats from a CS.

Being a bit of a fat bu*t, and I'm looking at long distance runs in europe, I'm looking to maintain some comfort. Wouldn't the CS seats be a bit full on?

IM a bit of a lard ass myself. I installed regular 944 seats in my 968. MUCH more comfortable and there all over the place , cheap. Mine are porsche script ones w/o power ,also 40 lbs lighter than 968 seats.

Too many Bacon Butties?? <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/biggrin.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Seriously I'd still check out the Recaros. They're very comfortable and available in so many shapes, colours, and sizes...or you can have my 944 power seats if you want to pick them up...

Well I've gone for sports seat option. They're the wrong colour at the moment, but my Uncle restores the interiors of classic cars, so they,ll get a full retrim before fitting.

No problem, may be a few weeks though as I got to fetch the seats, get them to my uncle and then retrieve them when theyre done.

If I can work out how to do it, I'll post the before pics here.

I hope I've done this right.

If so, these are the seats as I've bought them.

They have a number of tears and the bolsters are split.

Are these the motorised ones? 4 or 8 way. That's the only thing I miss about my 944 seats. You should enjoy them.

4 way, which is the same as the ones already in the car.

They're being picked up next week and then it's just the wait until my Uncle's finished with them.

They're nice but heavy. If you are just using the car for the road then a good upgrade.

My local 968 buddy Paul (prj24149 to his friends here) picked up a pristine set of full power, heated 993 seats last year. They were even a perfect match for his interior. He got them for a song. I was sooooo jealous.

I picked up a mint condition set of blk 993 seats for under $500 shipped for my 951.

The deals are out there you just have to know where to look and be ready to pull the trigger on the spot.

Prices in the UK seem to be much higher, probably due to less choice. As a rule of thumb, what you pay in $US we tend to pay in £sterling as a minimum. So about double, this goes for cars as well as parts.

Both seats are now stripped down and my Uncle is sourcing a skin for the retrim. I'm strting to get excited, but I'll not see any progress until I pick up the finished article.

The 993 sport seats look fantastic, pictures of the install would be great.
