Just had my front seals replaced with a seal kit. I don't know what the individual part numbers are, but was advised that a couple of the genuine seals have directional arrows on them (not sure which ones - my mechanic did mine <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wink.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> ). Would be worthwhilst having a look at yours before they are installed.

I just ordered from Paragon what I think must be the same kit as you're showing. It should arrive tomorrow. I'm planning to install it when I change my belts, hopefully this weekend. I'll let you know when it arrives if it's the same one. I just went by Jason Burkett's recommendation when I ordered it, but he's such a reputable guy in 968 circles that I trust he recommended the right kit. He said it was important to replaces the races, not just the seals, so it does look like you're showing the correct kit.

I just got this as well. I did order the races and it looks like they need to be pressed into the front balance shaft housings.

By the way...this is a pain in the backside. I could not get the power steering pump off the mount/lower b/s housing. Slowly woking on it still.

Does anyone have any input as to whether the races have to be press-fit into the front balance shaft housings?

Ryan, are you doing this during a belt swap, or as a stand-alone project?

I have a leak in my lower b/s and thought I would just do the whole thing. Belts and seals while I'm in there.

My first roadblock was getting the crank nut loose. I had a 24mm socket, but not a deep socket. Short extension was too much . I bought a 2" extension and was OK. Then I thought I could get away without using the special pin wrench to remove the low b/s gear...not. I bought a cheap adjustable pin wrench and am going to try that tomorrow. I hope to get this done before long.

I have not gotten to the seals yet. This weekend I hope to find if I can put the races in or may have to take them to a shop.

I took my seals to the hardware store and picked up irrigation couplings that were the proper size, and used them to press the seals in. Getting them in takes patients, so don't rush the job or you could mess one up like I did... and then have to wait for a new one.

Hey guys - to pick up on the topic - I'm installing new front end seals right now using the Paragon kit.

The seals are a piece of cake - I used a 1 1/4" plastic pipe coupling like rustech as my seal tool - they push right in. Important to remember that the lower seal in 1mm or so larger than the upper seal. Don't confuse the two.

The races *should* be easy to fit - the old ones slip easily on and off the balance shaft. However, the new races in the kit do not want to slide on the shaft - it seems the ID is too small.

Anyone else have trouble pushing on the balance shaft races? These appear to be original porsche parts with the correct part number according to the PET. If I can't get them on today I'm using the old ones - I need to move this re-build forward.
