Electronic Glitch..Any help
#1

Got the car up and running with a successful 9 hours of practice at Barber motorsports Park Birmingham, AL this weekend. Got the car home and drove

it to my favorite fishing hole and it suddenly shut off.

The car will turn over but it won't start.

Computer ECU works fine although it doesn't seem to be sending a signal beyond the computer to the fuel pump or ignition.

We have tried two new computers with the same problem.

We replaced the crank position sensor to no avail.

BIG RACE IN TWO WEEKS.

If you know of 968s shutting off due to electronic or fuel problems please post your comments. EVERYTHING ON THE CAR IS BONE STOCK with exception of MOTON SUSPENSION.

THANKS.

Charles - Have you tried the good ol' DME relay? Mine failed at track, limped home on an original borrowed from an '86 951 that had blown up that day.

2-minute swap with ANY running 944/951/968's fuse/relay box.

Fresh 993 Part in place, spare in glovebox.

Next gremlin for me is the fuel-pump itself (should be able to check for pressure). Mine is getting noisy, so a new one is sitting at my mechanic's shop as I write.

By the way... If you or Jim Childs are coming to Autobahn for the Milwaukee Cup, then I retract all above advice in an effort to increase my finish position by 1 or 2 cars <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Thanks for the advice. will try a DME relay on Monday. Won't be at Milwaulkee Cup. Doing Barber June 17,18; Racing first Nasa race at Road Atlanta in August (looking forward to taking 400 lbs out of the car); Racing Daytona PCA F stock in October.

Possibly Mid Ohio nationals if I can find the money tree to do the preliminary races.

Jim Childs racing GTS2...I want to race GTS3. Imagine 968's taking podiums in both classes, awsome.

I'll be racing at BeaveRun that weekend with NASA, so it will be up to you to represent the 968 guys in F class at Autobahn.

Good Luck!!

I shall do my best to carry the torch. Heck, finally moving from RA-1's to sticky Hoosiers... I might be half as fast as you guys.

Good luck to all.

Hey Charles - definitely sounds like the DME relay - have seen it a bunch of times - I never go to an event without a spare. As it turns out I won't make Barber - but best of Luck to you!!! I'l be at Daytona for sure - So I'll see you then if not sooner.
