Latest Racing Mis-Adventure
#1

Here is a video from my last race. It didn't quite end like planned.

I lost the right rear tire causing a spin and a DNF. It looks like I cut the tire on the pavement edge at the beginning of the video when I dropped a wheel off the track. Unbeknowst to me, it was loosing pressure until the tire came unbeaded a half lap later. I was doing about 140mph thru turn one and it was squirmy, then I braked and turned into T2 and it let go. I actually corded the sidewall in the spin. Never done that before! Luckily, I didn't collect the 928 that was right with me or hit anything. It shows you never know what is going to happen lap to lap. Enjoy.

Wow

You really seemed to keep your composure after that spin. It looked like you tried to keep racing? How much farther did you go until you realized the tire was trashed?

Thanks for sharing,

Glau

I never got back up to speed. I didn't know at the time what was wrong but I knew something happened to the rear end. It felt okay at the next right hander but when I tried to go left there was obviously a big problem. I just limped it back to the paddock after that.

That's where I've seen your icon before! You run 968turbo.com! I love those incar videos, full laps too

Yeah, good thing it was just a spin and not a crash Better one DNF than a write off

Cool video! I'm glad to hear there was no major incident.

What track is that? It looks like there's are a couple of turns with menacing looking trees just waiting to eat up a car!

That is the raceway in seattle, "Pacific Raceway" if I'm not mistaken. Never been there myself, but the local DE club holds an event there a couple times a year.

Scary, glad it didn't brake loose at truly high speed.

Erik:

If those are trees surrounding that track we are going to have to send you guys rallying.. Any body ever go off...in the forest?

Never seen a track that dangerous before...

Down hear we get to hit walls, and then T boned by other cars...Seems safer for some reason.

What trees? Pacific Raceways is a track you have to treat with respect because it can/does eat cars. But I've never seen a car get to the trees. A wall or a dirt berm usually gets them first! I've personally seen a bunch of destroyed cars there including an F40, a couple 993s, couple a mustangs, several RX7s and more. It is a fun track that takes a while to figure out. There are a couple places you don't want to go off though.
