Yes! VW Camper van would be the way to go. I own three right now, one for each of my 968's I guess. I will spare everybody the photos this time. I've taken them from Sacramento to Seattle, Idaho, and Los Angeles without a problem.
I have a buddy who is writing a book about when he was 19 years old in 1971, and bought an air cooled VW van and drove from France to Istanbul, or something along those lines. Took 6 months, and not nearly as romantic as it may sound. I'll get my facts straight one of these days to share. This guy has some amazing stories.

Very perceptive Rap! Well it was the 70's. There is a great story here as well. For now, let's just say his girlfriend got it across the border but he was unsuccessful.
Back on topic, for the price of renting a Ferrari for a few days, I've contemplated purchasing a 968 and driving through Europe for a week or two. I wonder how difficult it would be to find one...

What about a 968forums swap cars and continent service, you come to Europe and drive my 968 cab, I go to the US and drive yours... Just a crazy idea.. Renting Ferraris whilst nice, gets quite pricey for a week or 2, but you could probably enjoy ragtop driving in a Mazda Miata or similar as well for a much more reasonable amount of money....
