10th Anniversary is June 6th, I'm hoping this will be my present from my lovely wife.

cool

we tried to rent a ferrari a couple of years ago, but the place we wanted to use went out of business, and the only other one wouldn't allow us to return it anywhere else, and it was at one end of the country, when we were going to end up at the other end.

sounds like fun. pretty pricey though.

Tuscany is on our "bucket list". Driving a Ferrari in Tuscany would be really nice... but at those prices it will not happen.

I would rather ship my 968 to Europe, tour for a month and be at a fraction of those costs.

Better yet... buy a VW camper van there and tour around , then sell. I think Ryker would agree to that plan.

Yes! VW Camper van would be the way to go. I own three right now, one for each of my 968's I guess. I will spare everybody the photos this time. I've taken them from Sacramento to Seattle, Idaho, and Los Angeles without a problem.

I have a buddy who is writing a book about when he was 19 years old in 1971, and bought an air cooled VW van and drove from France to Istanbul, or something along those lines. Took 6 months, and not nearly as romantic as it may sound. I'll get my facts straight one of these days to share. This guy has some amazing stories.

I've driven in Tuscany but with a Fiat Punto. What dog! I've done with and witthou a GPS. Both are iffy as the Italians have their own way of driving and roads that go nowhere. E' Italia!

Very perceptive Rap! Well it was the 70's. There is a great story here as well. For now, let's just say his girlfriend got it across the border but he was unsuccessful.

Back on topic, for the price of renting a Ferrari for a few days, I've contemplated purchasing a 968 and driving through Europe for a week or two. I wonder how difficult it would be to find one...

lol - the punto - that's what we ended up with on the first trip. horrible piece of crap. in fact we called it the puntopuss (punto P.O.S.). royal pain in the butt to try to drive it in florence.

You guys are brave. Spent a couple of weeks there two years ago. One look at the driving habits/patterns and decided I was not even comfortable riding in a cab.

lol - it is a very real consideration. while i loved the idea of driving a hot car in tuscany, the realities of the roads, parking, and the fact that every other car i saw was dented, did not inspire confidence in my ability to do it unscathed.

the second time we got a fiat 500. we went in with no expectations, and had a blast. not as romantic as a ferrari, but i didn't have to worry about the skinny city streets, the crazy parking issues, or any of that. knowing what i know now, i'm not sure i'd do anything differently next time either, though a ragtop would be nice.

I've driven Tuscany in a diesel Alfa, hohum. The real deal here is that they offer a Vespa tour, forget the Ferrari!

Ryker, forget what I do for a living and the life I led in a different world on another planet? I was at a surprise 60th bday party last weekend talking about driving a Ferrari in Tuscany listening to graying middle aged people tell their soft drug use stories and finally couldn't help laughing. They couldn't get it and wouldn't have believed me anyway!!

What about a 968forums swap cars and continent service, you come to Europe and drive my 968 cab, I go to the US and drive yours... Just a crazy idea.. Renting Ferraris whilst nice, gets quite pricey for a week or 2, but you could probably enjoy ragtop driving in a Mazda Miata or similar as well for a much more reasonable amount of money....

hmmm - 2000 euros - that's over $2700. i think i'd pass on driving it in tuscany, and instead rent it here. you'd get it for a few days at that rate, and probably be able to sneak in a session at the track.
