Door Panel Speaker Cover
#1

Just got the car back from the shop to replace the timing belt, and then managed to drop a few thousand more dollars on other mechanical tasks that needed to get fixed. The fixes for this thing never seem to be easy or all that cheap. Now that all of that is behind me I need to replace the speaker covers on my doors. While the car was in the shop my driver side panel just fell off, so now I have no place to keep my garage opener, plus my speaker is exposed. The one on my passenger door has been trying to fall off now for a few months.

Has anyone had any luck finding a suitable replacement for this part? I need to replace both of them (each door). It looks like I should be able to just attach it with screws across the bottom, but my concern is color matching the carpet.

Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

how the heck did it "just fall off"? there are something like 7 screws and 3 pins holding that thing on

Evidently some of the bottom screws had just worked their way out over time and I hadn't noticed, so fail on my part there. I will take a picture of it but the plastic inside essentially is just falling apart.

the plastic shell that houses the speakers is well known for breaking. they didn't do a very good job of reinforcing the areas where the screws go. unfortunately there is no real fix.

i'm getting up into my attic over the next week or two, and pulling down everything i have up there that i have been hanging onto. i am then going to go over the white car, and see what i might need. after that, i am going to be having a bit of a clearing house sale, as i do not want to move this stuff, and i think we are going to get onto the short course to a new, bigger, and custom built house.

lol - it's amazing the things i've accumulated. i keep stuff around for when somebody rolls through and needs something in a pinch. i've rescued a few cars with the spare parts. things like radiator hoses, belts, distributor caps, yada yada. pretty funny actually.

anyway, i know i have a perfect set of enclosures and map pockets. as soon as i make sure i won't need them, they will likely end up on the block
