Door Hinge
#1

Door hinge is worn on the drivers side door at the upper hinge (door sags). Attached are picture showing the parts. Ref PET MG8 SG04 Illustration 804 index 4 and 5. Index 5 does not appear that it will clear the door sheetmetal lip once door is pulled to facilitate hinge removal. Any tricks? Pin is tapered and appears to go in from top to bottom. I could use some advise please... <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/unsure.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

I partially removed the door as follows.

I found that a furniture dolly was just about the right height. I added some padding underneath the door on top of the dolly and them tied the door to the dolly. If you are working alone having the door riding on the dolly helps a lot. I then removed the two bolts on each hinge that mount into brackets on the body. These bolts determine how far out and if the door hangs down, etc... A tab from the hinge slips into the bracket and is held by the two bolts. Removing the two bolts from each hinge bracket on the body will allow the door to be pulled away. Remember to also remove the hinge pin from the door stop. You should be able to access the hinge on the door now without having to disconnect any electrical wiring.
