Do we have Rear foglights and City lights?
#1

Forum tired to tackle this. I saw on a forum, that one of our colleuges that lives overseas has on his 968. So the question is, why did they not put all those things on the U.S version??? we get bad weather here too and just as the sun is going down, the City lights, that are intergrated into the headlights make for a real cool glow...I had this on my VR6 Corrado, back in 94. So, if there is a way we can install (wire) rear fogs and city lights, can the Forum guide me in the direction, so i can see the light!!! (no pun intended!)

Typical "Not Invented Here" attitude of the DOT and NHTSA...

To them, no other country could possibly know what lighting systmes the good ol' US of A needs!

I have the second Fog Light Switch installed in my 968 Coupe, and initially used it for a set of LED type "City Lights"...

Got stopped by a local yokel who informed me they were "Illegal Lights, and either remove them or the car would be confiscated! if a ticket was issued!".... jealous little prick!

Last part about confiscating the car was probably BS, but I don't need the hassle, so I pulled them, but left the switch... haven't decided what to do with it if anything...really hate giving in to "Big Brother"!!!

They were in separate "pods" under the front bumper, similar to fog lights but of a smaller size. Wired them to the battery, thru a relay, and thru the switch. Sorry, I don't have a diagram.

Reminds me of my DUI stop on the third day of my 968 experience, when I was under the influence of nothing. Another jealous little prick who wasted an hour of my time with countless and unnecessary tests.

I think the city lights were incorporated into the headlamp housing - see part #6 below? I once by mistake got a ROW headlamp and it had the mounting point for that lamp.

Here's a cut from the currently-popular 968_USA_Katalog. USA because part #6 is not listed on the right side of the screen! This explains, or begins to explain, the odd drop-outs I've noticed when referencing this PDF - only the USA-model parts must be listed, even though the illustrations are complete.

Good luck - I now wish I had kept those headlamps and wired up the city lights... they're too cool! <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/cool.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />
