Too bad there wasn't enough light. I'd love blue lights in the IC and maybe even some of the other dash lights. When I find time to take out the IC, I can now add 194 bulbs to the list of things to do while I'm there. Thanks for the research guys!

Anchorman - looking forward to seeing pics, sounds like the project is moving along!

Stay tuned, Darryl - and thanks for the encouragement. Tomorrow morning, I'm planning to remove the glove box - and the dashboard. Then I'll put the old and new dashboards next to each other and take some photos. Then - cleaning, installing a new A/C condensate drain line, more cleaning, and - later in the weekend, possibly, the start of reassembly. I just got an email from Alan Gun that my steering wheel work is under way and it should be shipped back to me on Thursday. I figure that about two weeks from now I should be turning the key and seeing if this baby starts.

Quick update- the dash is out of the car. The last problem was a bolt that none of the instructions described. To get to it required lying on the floor, head under the dash, 10mm socket and box wrench to remove a Locktite treated bolt. There's almost no room for anything other than wrenches, I have no idea how I'm going to get this bolt back in place. Tomorrow I'll do some cleanup, replace the A/C condensate hose, and get ready for reassembly. My current target is to be on the road in two weeks.

To celebrate July 4th, I installed the new dash. It's completely fastened in - except for that 10mm bolt mentioned in the previous post. I can touch the holes for the bolt, but I haven't figured out how to get it through them. From the location, I'm pretty sure that the purpose of this bolt is to keep the dash in place if there's a passenger airbag deployment. Maybe I'll just drive more safely.

This coming weekend I'll start reassembling everything that goes on the dash, and then - fingers crossed.

The project has moved along - slower than I wanted, but I simply haven't had much time. At this point, though, it's about two hours from completion. All that's left to do is install the steering wheel (reconditioned and thickened by Alan Gun Leather), fasten the glove box and tie up behind it all of the extra cable length from the new Bluetooth kit and iPod connector that are mounted in the glovebox, and install the glovebox door. Started the car this past Saturday - and, to my pleasure, it started (with newly calibrated injectors). The "new" dash, new A/C knobs, "new" center console, new padded black leather console compartment cover, and new radio all look great. Can't wait to start driving it again.

I still haven't driven at night, so I can't report on the new dash light bulbs.

I replaced the old head unit with a new Alpine. I have FM reception but no AM reception. The old unit had no problem, so I can't understand. Is there anything obvious that I might not be not seeing in terms of antenna connections? I'm asking here before I contact Alpine or Crutchfield.

Be sure that any power that had been supplied to the antenna was re-attached. This might have been "built-in" to the original set up but might require a separate lead in the new stuff. Without power to the antenna the am part might not work.

Thanks, Kim, I'll have to take a closer look. There is an "extra" black wire that I don't know from whence it comes, or if it was ever connected to anything. Kind of goes along with the little bag of screws left over from the dash board replacement.

Had my first night drive. The 194 LL (long life) bulbs are sufficiently bright that I'll probably be using the rheostat (that seems like a word from the past) to bring them to something like half-brightness. Nice to have that luxury!
