I’ve kicked around on that MP3 site on a number of occasions. The possibilities are endless. Movies, Internet, blue tooth, MP3s, etc. anything you can do on a PC is brought into your car. Mostly laptop parts are used do to their smaller size. The touch screen eliminates the need for a keyboard. Add a wireless card and you got email to go.

Not really looking at doing this to the 68 though as it’s more of a weekend car.

But as for my SUV http://store.mp3car.com/ProductDetails.asp...tCode=CCC%2D006

it's a touchscreen to hook up to a computer... lets you do anything you can with a computer. Easy integration of gps, mp3 jukeboxs, everything else mentioned earlier, etc

I would love to add this to my car as well! I just wish I had the skills to do this mod myself. It would be nice to know who did this and if they would be willing to sell/make the trim piece for the touchscreen. Nice work!

it's not just a matter of of a trim piece though... you're basically taking the housing for the screen, mounting it in the center console, and blending it in with bondo and such, repainting, then remounting the screen in the housing.

silvy... a quick search online found this http://www.hauppauge.com/Pages/products/data_usbfm.html which would allow for FM radio(and TV apparently)... not sure about a CD changer or HDFM, although I'm sure there's some solution for that out there. Not sure what you'd want a CD changer for though, when you can have all the songs stored on the in car computer anyway.

Saxman,

I understand about the trim piece and housing being more complicated to put together. I was just saying that it would be nice to have something that fit more universally to most 7" or 8" etc. touch screens. No matter what it was well executed and thought out.

Saxman,

Thanks for the link. Point well taken about the CPU in car. Only issue is 3,000-4000 songs already on home PC. CD makes it easy to play custom playlists in car. But for me it is not such a big deal, I was asking because the computer in the car does not allow acces to the CD from the screen area. One could also relocate the radio into the glove box and use the CPU screen only as a GPS.

I'm sure you could get creative and remote mount the computer cd player to under the screen. You'd need a cd player that didn't have the slide out tray, but I'm sure something could be found.
