Crunched valves -- need SoCal recommendations
#1

No not for me! I'm posting for a fellow 968 owner in SoCal who hasn't been active online.

Anyhow, he had a no start problem and just had the car diagnosed by a dealership around here (I guess the one in Beverly Hills). The dealership said the timing belt went and he's bent valves and gave him an estimate of $8600 for repairs. Yikes!

I've never gone through this myself (except to be scared of it happening....). If anyone has

* recommendations on a more reasonably priced shop he should take the car too -- preferably on the West Side, but towing a car a little ways for a good shop is not out of the question. I hestitate to recommend the shop I've used in the past

* recommendations on other alternatives (DIY replacement of whole head, part out the car, sell as-is and buy another, etc, etc....)

I'm sure he'd appreciate it.

Damn that was quick. You must have bought that speed wrench set you had your eye on. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/biggrin.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

[post="713"]<{POST_SNAPBACK}>[/post]
He's got this really cool tool call the 'telephone'. It let you have a conversation without having to wait for the other guy to post a reply back to the thread.
