Good luck with the recovery, I hope for you sake they went through wrist and not the groin it is a much easier recovery. They would not let me stay awake during my procedure 2 years ago, whenever I asked them a question they knocked me back out.

Yes it was through the wrist, had four attempts to get the gear in there, my arm is purple with bruises from hand to elbow.
Feeling shell shocked still, and can drive my 968 for another 3 weeks that's a pain too

Ouch, I left the hospital the next day with a band aid on the wrist. It took 3 tries I think for me and it went from a 45 minute procedure to 3 hours.
Which blood thinner do they have you on, me cardio put me on an expensive one called Brilinta (I think) but it was worth the expense since I was able to discontinue it after a year. Apparently the commonly used ones you are on for the rest of your life and while it was not covered by insurance like everything else to not easily bruise or bleed after a year is great.

The cleaner will also clean the rest of the engine. I am no fan of it for an old engine that is almost 25 years full of dirt. If it goes wrong you will gave more work to do with new gaskets and getting ou all the dirt that came loose.

Had my engine apart at 140k miles and was surprised how clean it was inside.
But the lifters still rattle when it's been parked for 3 weeks like now

I have to say that a ticking lifter would not trigger a knock sensor, if it’s been changed was a replacement bolt used, they are specially coated bolts
If it continues to cause a knock I would be very tempted to have the injectors cleaned and the FPR checked and a smoke test for an air leak, the knock sensors must be fitted exactly as described in the manual.
If the ECL comes on the ignition timing is retarded by the ECU by 6 degrees
Don’t even consider new injectors they are now $500 each
I will find the INA part number for the VW ones, we can get a set of 16 lifters here for $75
