Eww, WHITE " wine " ? That's not REAL wine , it's a mere one step above water, refresher . Only bold, robust cabs , syrahs, gsms or zins may be referred to as wine ..heck even pinot noirs are borderline not wine .. IMHO , lol.

Oh, oh, here comes the war !! Probably should move this conversation to the Wine thread , lol .

Wait, latest " Playboy " ? Are they still publishing ? I thought they stopped those paper magazines many many years ago ..who buys those things ?

Kaj, I'm with you. I can't imagine putting my cars through a car wash. Daily driver yes 968 no. Besides which, doesn't one get enjoyment from washing, compounding, polishing and waxing ones car?

lol - i never enjoyed washing, waxing, or detailing my cars.  i have always preferred paying someone to do it.  they also do a better job.  i just don't have the patience for it.  they are also far less expensive than me doing it, because it means i can't be making money while i am washing a car.  personally, i'd rather be playing golf, and come back to the parking lot to a clean car that got done while i was digging my way out of a sand trap.

but have at it.  i can see where it might be therapeutic to somebody.

So, if I read this correctly. you golf for money, pay for the wash with the excess earned while golfing, and are crappy at golf but still get paid.  I need to try that.

lol - if only

i have a number of revenue generating irons (pardon the pun) in the fire.  any time i spend on doing something like washing a car is time taken away from those, and that time is far more profitable than the expense to wash the car.  it's simple economics.  however, even if i were doing something else, like goofing off playing golf, i would still rather pay somebody to wash the car, as i value highly my off time, and would not waste it washing a car.  the older i get, the more i recognise that no matter how much money i have, i cannot buy more time, and consequently i spend that time as wisely as i can, be it for business or for pleasure.

but i understand that somebody else might actually enjoy it.  cool.  they are welcome to come over and wash mine.

don't laugh - believe it or not - because it generally takes me the better part of a day to detail a car (set up, washing, clay bar, drying, waxing, yada yada - and then recovering) with flights being as low as they are, it is just about a wash (again, pun intended) these days to buy a round trip ticket versus me taking the day off.  i think that's why we have not been taking any extended vacations.  it's hard to justify the expense of the trip, when you start off by losing over $2k a day.  by the time you load up airfare, hotels, food, drink, and a few trinkets, a 3 week vacation can easily cost us well over $50k.  starting to reevaluate that though.

so, i say, let those car wash guys charge whatever they want.  you sure won't see me out there doing it.

Soooo, if trading time for earnings opportunity is in play, why do ( did ) you work on your cars' mechanical issues and not let someone else take care of that  ?

Guessing it may be a matter of finding someone locally competent enough to do what you know you can, as opposed to detailing which is a ( relatively ) far less complex or not as important consequence task, thus a much greater selection of people who can do that job ?

Time is money no doubt. Yet my perspective is that this is my time to relax and clear my mind. Time is an ever increasing valued commodity. This is why I exclude most people from my life. My time is more valuable than wasting it with them. Yet i don't feel the need to spend all my time trying to make money. This is why one has investments. Down time is beneficial to me. When I lived in DC i gave up washing my car. It was no fun and wasted limited time. Now I can allocate free time in a controlled setting and futz around on my car. If I don't finish it then I can sit down, have a cigar and daydream!

Any time or money I spend on the 968 is Leisure budget, whether that is time driving, washing/waxing, going to cars and coffee or goofing off on 968Forums...

Who funds that budget? Do you have grants that can be applied for?

Love the inputs.... Washing and waxing your own rare 968 is a different world....."Time is money" I hear out there. I might be among the few lucky ones....I made my money, now retired, I have the time. Though many people do not see any excitement in cleaning a 968, it get's you to the details of your next project......you see things that is not right !

.......no car wash for me!!!

I have taken my 968 to a 100% hand wash place quite a few times ( not the daily driver one, that car can suffer the indignity of run-of-the-mill washes, lol, but they are still the brushless kind .. ) and also had them hand-wax it , but always gave them a bottle or can of my chosen wax, instead of the cheap stuff they use .

That quick hand wax cost was also about $ 35 a couple of years ago , now it's around $ 60 .
