CAB CHASSIS BRACE ROUND 3
#61

i am working on shipping numbers right now - costs have gone up a bit, which is why i said "approximately" on the earlier post - it was a year ago that i last shipped these after all - i will let everyone know what it is later today - it varies destination to destination, and as soon as i have everything added up, i can let you all know

ok - invoices are out via email - now just waiting on the stuff to be finished at the powder coaters, which is any day now - i am running out this weekend to buy the packaging materials, lumber, and all that

please contact me with any issues and such - i'd like to wrap this up as quickly as possible, and not have these things sitting in my garage for me to trip over like the klutz that i am

small snag - went to pick them up on saturday - walked in the door and upon seeing them, i noted two things:

1 - powder coating looked GREAT

2 - upper mounting flanges did not match

after some measuring, head scratchin, me dragging a unit back here, removing mine from my car, fitting the new one, and remeasuring, yup - it's off - already talked to the welder - back it goes this morning for all 4 to be fixed - not a huge deal, but a hassle nonetheless

sorry guys - glad i caught it now though, instead of when you were trying to install it, found out it was off, and then started screaming four letter expletives

should only be a couple of days, tops

picked them up late thursday - all good - was stuck in meetings all day yesterday - picking up packing materials today - will be working on packaging this weekend - can start shipping monday

here's the question:

given that xmas is this week, would it be better to delay shipping until after the holiday, knowing that the busses are going to be packed, and the guys at the terminal may well over stuff the luggage bays and ultimately damage the unit before it could get to you?

i can go either way (love to get them out of my garage) - i am buying the insurance, but it only goes to $300 - dealing with the claim would happen on the receiver's end, not here, and may involve sending it back, getting fixed, and then resending it

thoughts?

i agree with you flash. I don't think many people will be in a rush to install these over the holiday weekend. I don't mind waiting a few more days to get mine.

ok - i'll hold off sending yours until the monday after xmas - that should give everybody a chance to get home, and the storage bays probably won't be so full

lee - i'm sending your pieces out on monday

I agree to wait on mine, too, Flash.

Thanks for the consideration and your work.

My 968 has summer tires, so no chance of me snow drifting with my P-car over the holidays :-)

I'm plowing 8-inch snow with my Audi here in Seattle (worst since 1991).

bought the lumber - cut the lumber - ran out of lumber - got in denali - dead battery - charged battery - went to home depot and got more lumber - parked denali to go to the shop tomorrow - cut more lumber - wrapped up first unit - it tipped over - had to take it apart and figure out how to ship with x-brace so it wouldn't tip over (turns out the x-braces that went out before all got installed here) - re-wrapped unit - secured x-brace - ran out of cardboard

i'll get to the rest tomorrow, after i go out and get more cardboard, and probably more bubble wrap

going to drink now

Thanks Bob, Monday or any other day is good for me. Based on the quality of my brace, the remaining two pieces are well worth the wait. Thanks for taking on a third round; I know the fabrication can be quite frustrating.

Hey Bob,

The wife and I will be in and out untill the 7th then off to Phoenix, back on the 11th. If you can get delivered on or before the 6th, cool! If not put me at the back of the list if that makes it any easier for you.

ok - they are picking up this afternoon - they should call everyone to schedule delivery - roughly a week to the east coast from here - less for closer desitinations

ryan - yours will be there before you leave - i'll ring you up about that

EVERYONE - ABSOLUTELY IMPERATIVE - inspect for damage - if there is a problem, YOU will need to take the unit to the greyhound station and file a claim there - it cannot be done here - it cannot be done without taking the unit to them to show them

ALSO VERY IMPORTANT - make sure you have some anti-seize - it needs to go on all the bolts, and DEFINITELY on the stainless ones that connect the parts - failure to use it WILL result in jammed threads and you being very upset

please follow the instructions to the letter - do not skip ahead - there are very real reasons for the steps
