CAB CHASSIS BRACE - ROUND 2
#21

they don't make spec anyway - they are only 2" and i only have one of the metal hoops on them right now - i would have to change them to 3" and add another metal hoop

_______________________________

Flash,

Schroth has a recent discussion of the benefits of 2" over 3" belts. I was at one of their tech sessions and they showed a very convincing argument which was accompanied with slides and much data.

It made me switch my 3" belts over to 2" belts this past Spring...

You may just want to stay with your 2" belts!

If you want a copy of their report, I'll try to dig it up.

yeah - i prefer the 2" - much more comfortable, and in the street car, they work fine - of course i'm still stuck with the rules for a race car, but who knows?

i'd love a copy of the report though

Flash,

Here's the link. It's from the NY Metro PCA website.

thanks - really cool document

looks like 2" is ok when used with a HANS, but since i don't have one of those, i would still need 3" to qualify - the good news is this is moot, since i won't be racing this car - the swap out would be easy enough though either way

p.s. - the payment instructions email has been delayed due to a change in an accompanying legal document - should have final draft this afternoon - email is drafted and ready to go otherwise, and i expect it out to everyone tonight

OK... I'm being rather slow this week. So we're doing 100% deposit, right? (or was it half....) Also, if I plan on coming by, do I include any for shipping.

Simpler question -- getting the chassis brace w/ harness bar -- how much do I send you now?

joseph - i want to keep the transactions via email and keep the clutter off of here - i am really swamped and don't really have the time to use this board much lately

i sent an email to everybody with the instructions - if you or anyone else didn't get it, please email me at flash@design1racing.com

note - that is NOT the email address for paypal transactions - i will respond to you from the correct address

a couple of the orders are in, but i need 10 to pull the trigger - more than that number have emailed me with interest, but so far, not all have committed - i am trying to wrap this up and get them shipped before the christmas rush, and with a 6-8 week production time, it is getting close

this will most likely be the only run of units for about a year, so if anybody is going to do this, this is the time

ok - we had been hovering at 6 orders for quite a while, and as you all know it was a 10 minimum

well, the seventh order just came in, and i went down and convinced them to do 7 - it is going to cost me a little bit of money (nothing big), but i will not be passing that on to you guys - i want to get this done, and not hang anybody up any longer, so i'll just absorb it - consider it a christmas present

by the way, this is why i hadn't cashed any checks - i didn't want to do that until i knew that i could follow through - i don't like to take people's money until i can complete what i say i can

so, i am headed to the bank today, and meeting at the shop on friday to get this underway - timing is good, and the workload there is light - this should go fairly smoothly

anybody else that wants in on this, that has not already sent me their money and such, needs to do so by tomorrow - i can be contacted via the email address here - please do not send a PM - my box is too full, and i don't have time to sift through it

this is extremely likely to be the last order ever, and at least for quite some time - i cannot envision this happening again for at least a year

ken clark and ken tuttle - you had both sent me emails that you wanted one, but i have not seen anything in the way of an order - you have until tomorrow to get in on this - i have sent you both emails moments ago

i will be emailing everybody regarding the greyhound stations and such as we get closer to delivery

take care and everyone have a great holiday

Damn, I was hoping you'd wait until you got ten so I could have time to sit in a car with one to see if I fit OK.

sorry - i would have called you, but you said that you thought it was a no go for you based on pics, your height and your seat position

but, i'm confused - how would that have helped? i am only making as many as are ordered - this is a very limited production item, that cannot leave extras laying around

i've always said to everyone not to lag on this, and that i was going to pull the trigger as soon as possible - i really didn't want to keep the people who jumped in at the beginning waiting any longer - they got in in october

so, it wouldn't have put you any closer to one you could sit in than you are now - i'd bug jim or phil and see if they can help you

road trip

No worries, Bob, I figured you were waiting until you had ten and I knew you were short a couple so I thought there might be time. Yeah 98% sure it would not work based on the pics we swapped.

I probably shouldn't go on the track anyway as my Dr has told me no several times- one more broken neck or lower vertebrae and things might not be too good. I explained to him that can happen just in normal driving. he did not think it was funny. I figured just for the stiffening factor it might be nice.

call jim or phil - see if you guys can hook up so you can sit in their car

also, have somebody take a shot of you in the car, top down, in profile, far enough away so i can see the windshield - i'll then try to superimpose that shot here with the shot of the unit in the car and see how bad it is

Flash,

Do you have any instructions/tips on how to modify the storage boxes for brace installation? Any other fine points or advice on doing the install? Any advice from 968ers would be highly appreciated - I'll be plugging in the brace on my own and would like to know the dos and don'ts.

Thanks,

Andre
