Auto X Gold Coast Region
#1

Just wondering if anyone was going to the PCA Auto X this Sunday in Miami (actually Hialeah). This will be my first, any advice?

I would recommend that you read the Novice handbook. It gives you insight into what happens and how you can prepare for your first autocross. go to: http://www.autosportsnorthwest.org/handbook.htm

That's the link my local club has for the handbook. Also, prepare to have fun!

Cheers, Stephen

spin the car just to get it out of your system

start slow and smooth, say 4 or 5/10, and work up.

also, this won't be as much of an issue for an autocross, but you want to make sure you've got relatively fresh brake fluid.

people buy a used Porsche, don't appreciate it's got the original brake fluid, take it for a hard day's drive, the fluid boils approaching a turn and they go into a tree. . . it happened on a local funrun a few years ago.

Well, my first autocross was pretty fun. Your advice was spot on, I printed the handbook from autosportsnorthwest and that was very helpful. I also walked the course a few times...still got confused a cupple of times though. My times kept getting slower the harder I tried though, the LS1 makes very abrupt power in 2nd gear. Well looking forward to the nex one, thank for the advice.
