Antenna Adapter??
#1

Was looking around on an antenna website and saw something they call an "antenna adapter" for aftermarket receivers. Just a six-inch long cable with connectors on each end.

Got me thinking, when I put in my old Blaupunkt aftermarket CD receiver, the antenna plug in the car didn't connect very solidly into the receiver's jack, like maybe they were different types/sizes?

I would have thought these were standards across all car and stereo makes, but now seeing these adapters, makes me wonder ...

Is anybody familiar with these? Ever heard of needing an antenna adapter to connect up an aftermarket receiver in a 968?

Tom,

Funny you should ask this question - I have a Acura MDX antenna(powered FUBA) that I'm going to install this weekend on my coupe (short stubby 6" as apposed to the bee sting that is OE) . I've had the antenna awhile and hadn't installed it because when you open up the roof panel the OE antenna has a screw on (male) connection instead of the standard RCA female and my option was to either run another antenna wire from the stereo or find an adapter. The idea of pulling up the carpet to run the wire never appealed to me and I wanted the option of going back to stock. Anyway I have now found a adapter at cruchfields that will work (or at least I think will work) - I will take pictures and post them when I'm done.

I didn't have any issues with the antenna lead and my after market Stereo IIRC the lead is an RCA male.
