Another stereo install

Another stereo install

Last month I upgraded my stereo and took some pics of the process. I replaced my head unit

with a Kenwood EZ-500. It has a line in connection for my ipod. Plus many other features.

I used 968bills tweeter mod to install my tweeters. That worked great thanks for the info.

I order to install my 5 1/4" drivers in the stock door locations I had to make a spacer

to move the driver away from the back of the door panel so it would fit. I also had to trim

some of the stock speaker grill and a little part of carpeted off the bottom trim piece so

the driver would not hit it.

The front speakers are NOS SoundStream SPL series. 2ohm

I had to remove the covers from the cross over so it would fit under the speaker enclosure.

I had some extra HK 6 1/2" drivers laying around that I to made spacers for so they would not

hit the body. I mounted those in the stock rear location with the cross over and tweeters.

For power I wired in a NOS SoundStream 180w 4 channel amp.

(I have always been a fan SoundStream< but their new stuff sux as it is now made in tiwain)

Sound is amazing! I trimmed the amp so I could turn the volume all the up with no distortion.

Sound is crystal clear @85mph with roof off and windows down.

Now I just have to install 1 more amp with a sub. I was thinking of going with the KLA unit

or the on at www.JAGENG.com

I will probably go the KLA route as I don’t want to see it.

Back window is different from the 944. Just remove the plastic trim around the window (snaps in place),pull the trim from the door sill, and remove 2 screw.

20 mins. top per side.
