Air Intake

I used the 2 inch hole saw just because I had one on my workbench. Sanded the holes a bit after drilling out and the trim rings were a snug enough fit that no adhesive was needed. good luck, Bob Blackwell.

I bought the rings but can't find a hole saw the right size. Is 2" the best size to use?

Harvey,

I ran into the same problem. I visited Lowes and Home Depot and neither had a 2.125" saw. I used my existing 2" and used the Dremel and it worked beautifully. I really think you get a more snug fit using the smaller size. Then, I used the 2 part epoxy and it looked great.

Actually drove her down to Augusta for the Masters Monday and Tuesday. What a fun car to drive!!!! Hooked up with a 928 around Columbia, SC and we "played" all the way to Augusta! The new airbox gives the car a moan like you wouldn't believe. It sounds like it's big brother 8 cylinder.

Good luck, this is really an easy modification.

If it "moans" like it's big sister (928) I'll love it. I have an '85S 928 and there are few cars that sound as good. Farraris are nice too...but the 928 can give you Farrari like performance (if you mod it) for MUCH less money...as well as good looks.

Perhaps i should do this mod.. eh? Luckily i mortise doors all the time and the 2 1/8" hole saw is a must for most US lock applications. If i make a mistake, which is not likely, i'll just put a door handle.. or deadbolt in its place. .... lol, not having a significant other has freed up so much money I like this. Not to mention i'm going to become a post whore in both rennlist and here.

My trumpets and securing bolts arrived today (many thanks DaveG - it did only take 5 days to ship to the UK). Now got to find a saw and enough courage to rip into the airbox
