Seems to me that something is wrong. Maybe the crash sensor is kaput. I would check it out. No time to discover that something else is amis when you hit the ditch at too fast a speed. Just for the record, somebody stole my wife's Murano a month ago and ran straight into a ditch instead of stopping at the sign at 100 km/h. The crater would have taken me 5 days to dig with a shovel. No seatbelt on but the airbag popped out. No scratches, no breaks, no blood, nothing. Ran away under his own steam. Saved his life. Get yours fixed correctly - you might need it.

+1 on getting it diagnosed. Obviously, there's something busted or an electrical gremlin of some kind. If/when you take it back, I'd do whatever you can do to beg/plead/etc. to get them to reset it free since it's been such a short time for it to come back. They may charge you some other fee for the diagnostics and troubleshooting, but they could at least throw in a freebie light reset for you.

No idea where - I just assumed that there needed to be something that determined when an airbag should be deployed. I have had cars where the sensor had failed - turning on the light (meaning that the airbag wouldn't work) - and needed to be replaced.

Kwikt the blink test is not the procedure for reading the faultmemory from the airbag. That is only for the motronic unit.
That needs some electronics. Look also the topic from resetting the airbag warninglight into the section from what a 968 owner must read.
