Looking for some advice or ideas on lightweight wheels to use for track events. Must be 17", and would prefer lighter weight AND relatively inexpensive. Since I would be using them mostly for DE or other track events, don't want to give an arm and a leg - I would rather save resources for various sets of tires. Aesthetics is not important . Any ideas?

[quote name='Jason Judd' date='Apr 25 2005, 11:06 AM']Tom,
Check out CCW, he's out of Florida.
I've had them for a couple of years now...only good things to report.

CCW are nice light, custom offsets, etc and reasonably priced but not inexpensive. Popular with a lot of track guys.

[quote name='bob blackwell' date='Apr 25 2005, 06:20 PM']Tom, have you considered using the 17 inch Cup 1 wheels you have for track and buying some others for street use? There are some good buys on 17 inch and 18 inch wheels from Boxsters that will work fine on our car for street use. Keep an eye on Rennlist, ebay and The Mart on PCA.org site for good deals. Good luck, Bob Blackwell.

Bob - WRT the installation of 18 inch wheels on the car, is there anything special which has to be done I.e. alignment or spacers?
Thanks,
Stephen

Bob your fix seems Very reasonable. I may have to do that myself as this is where I may get the 18 inchers. Reason I ask is that I have the oportunity to pick up a full set of Porsche 18 or 19 inch wheels from a gent. They will have the rubber on them but he thinks I need spacers etc. Anchormans comments also bring the fender clearance (ashamed I didn't think of that) <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/sleep.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> as cause for concern. As I am not near as experianced with suspension as I would like, I look to gents like yourselves for guidance.
Thanks again.
