968 semi-garage queen wanted
#1

I finally narrowed down exactly what it is I want to keep in the garage, while I "daily drive" my current 968 : A late '94 or a 95 , midnight blue metallic, coupe, M030, manual. classic grey ( not light grey) interior OR a cashmere / black trim two-tone interior, leather/partial leather seats, either 993 style seats or sport seats, no mods, never tracked, and in absolute immaculate condition ( concours quality ) inside and out. As flawless as it can be mechanically, preferably with less than 50k mi on the odo ( but will consider a bit more mileage if this car is pristine in every other way) .
Btw, no compromises on the M030 requirement, and none on the body condition.. all original paint, and in pretty much in showroom condition. Willing to pay a hefty premium over market value for the right 968.
So if you have a mid blue M030 coupe that fits those characteristics, and thinking about parting with it, please email me at: sandru@comcast.net
and we'll take it from there..

That's alot of parameters you're asking for. Travis's car fits maybe half of what you're asking for (including M030) -- and at least he's local!

the first is a cab, so "no go" on that... and I know Trevor's car well - beautiful, but triple black..

I know this quest won't be easy because I am unwilling to deviate at all from those listed parameters, but who knows what may be out there ?!

that's possibly the nicest color combination and certainly the most elegant by far - that's what we had in the 325 and loved it - that's what i was looking for in the 968, but couldn't find a clean enough example

i'll keep my eyes peeled

I'll check the 968 registry as well... although the thought of "knocking on someone's door" and asking if they have any interest in selling their car would be a fairly odd thing to do so I am not quite comfortable with that concept..

I agree about the color combo being the most elegant of all ( strictly a "IMO" ), and that's why I'm ok with both a classic grey OR a cashmere color interior - which on further thought might even work better with the midblue.

lol - well, i have learned to love the cashmere on midnight blue, even though it was not my first choice - perhaps the deviating black has been the key there - not sure - i've always loved cashmere, but the maintenance in a cab was a big question mark for this car, especially in the carpet - turned out for the best for me though, since my carpet is black

now i have one car with the cashmere and one car with classic grey

note: cashmere bolsters show wear faster than grey, but the armrests and door panels hold up better

Dan-

Since you have a very set and narrow list of options/criteria, I suggest you learn to overcome you hesitation noted above. I found my cab that way. It was a complete shot in the dark. The car was not advertised anywhere. The previous owner responded to my random email and the rest is history.

All I can really say is if you are looking for that "one" special car, you owe it to yourself to exercise all options.

You've got nothing to lose as you already have one!!!!

Good luck and I hope you find her!

Jim, good point - I guess if you don't ask, you don't get ! And it's not as if I would be offending anyone in the process, so I'll widen the search options and "methodology"

Dan,

I saw two '94 m030 coupes in blue on the registry. One was midnight blue, cashmere in Cali, and the other is Iris/grey in Colorado. I'll send you some info if you have an email address listed!

PM me your email address and I'll send you some VIN info with mileage etc...

columbia is a long way to transport a car, and then there are the DOT issues - but, you never know

I thought "Cali" may have been shorthand for California. I know that when I was working in Cali, Colombia, in the mid-'90s, I never saw a 968. (Yes, I had an apartment in Cali for about 3 years - interesting time.)

Dan,

I am not sure if this car has M030, and the only criteria it matches is that it is a low mileage, excellent condition coupe. The car is for sale here in the netherlands and has been for a while...so you might be able to get a sweet deal.

Thanks Johann, that coupe is very nice indeed, but I'm really set ( rather inflexible.. ) on the parameters I mentioned earlier so I realize my chances are extremely low in finding it but it's either that or none at all , I'm afraid. If I was searching to replace my main 968 I'd consider many more color combos, mileage, non-M030s, etc.. but since I plan to store this car away as "my ideal 968" for what may be a very long time, I'm being very picky..

It's red, but it is 29,000 miles and M030. San Diego Craigslist. No affiliation. http://sandiego.craigslist.org/csd/cto/1135066158.html

LOL, I posted a reply on the other thread about this car... yeah, it looks very, very nice.. But red ( unfortunately )
won't do it.. dang it, and all the other attributes seem perfect !

I'm just dead set in what I want, so I must keep on looking. Could be a loooong time, could be that I'm hoping against hope even, but I'm determined. For now anyway..

My Russian elders have a saying that translates roughly to: Inflexibility of mind leads to inflexibility of motion.

On the other hand, some of my younger friends have bumper stickers on their old cars: Tanks aren't afraid of mud!
