Hi.  I'm seeking a 968 fully prepped track car or streetable track car.  Can be fully stripped and not register-able or legal.  I don't care if the body is a 10.  I'm interested in a well sorted car that the engine has been gone through, and has all the racing goodies for safety, suspension and durability.

Cell is 2 oh 3-2 one 4-97 and then another 97

 You are better off building one from a good donor car. Countless hours will be spent going through a used track car in replacing worn parts. Plus when you start from scratch you can customize the "goodies" to your preference. Rap on this site can give you the best insight on this. I have had people buy "ready to race" cars for fairly cheap, only to spend many dollars on them to fix issues that would have been problems on the track. In the end it costs the same as building a car from scratch

I just went through this after I totaled my red 968 at Thunderbolt. There are track cars available. None of the ones I looked at were Forum members. Don't know why. The average real price for a track car is around $ 20,000. There are cars out there that the owners are listing for more. Depending on what you want in your car the chances are you might well spend over 20 to achieve what you want. That's assuming you get a good price for your platform. If you don't get a good price then I suspect the cost quickly becomes more 30+. You can get a spec boxster built for this price. Boxster parts are readily available.

Having just done this I sympathize with your dilemma. I went the build from scratch route because I like the 968 on the track, was able to buy the damaged car back which provided me with many of the more expensive upgrades, was able to keep a spare engine and transmission plus other parts. I didn't have a full roll cage in my red car. Just a design one roll bar( for sale by the way). A good cage which is speced out to 968 dimensions added a big chunk to the cost of the new build. If you track seriously this is a must. Perhaps even if you don't. Just some thoughts!

I have a 968, fully stock, 1992 with 95,000.  It's in good mechanical condition and cosmetically is a 15 footer, with a couple of minor blemishes.  It's a good candidate for a donor car, but I do feel like buying a prepped car for around $20, provided it really is in good shape and doesn't need to have everything replaced, should be far cheaper than putting all the expensive parts into my car.  And I do have the capacity to do a lot of work myself, with a little guidance of what to do, but still, parts are expensive.  I would love the process of creating the car myself, but I would feel best buying a car that has had a lot invested into it before me.
