Just found my first free moment since yesterday's fun run and getting Flash safely on his way back to California.



It was great to see everyone, re-acquaint with old friends and make some new one's...the 968 Fraternity sure provides alot of opportunity to meet people from all over the place, and hopefully to travel to them soon.



Great job Don! What a treat to see so many fine cars cruising together down the highway, we sure raised some eyebrows.



Looking forward to doing this all again soon....how's next week for everyone? <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/biggrin.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

I would also like to thank Don and all the other people that made this Celebration happen. Your hard word and dedication to our 968 community does not go unnoticed. This was my first celebration...Heck it was my first Porsche event and I have to say that it was quite memorable. I am looking forward to the next event and hope to meet more of you.

After much research, reading and help from many of you, I have updated my Cab with a new set of wheels that I bought at Hershey. They are from a 993 and fit nicely on my car without any rubbing.



I looked at a bunch of different wheels at this event before buying these refurbs from Sports Car Tire. The guys there were very accommodating and had my wheels changed in no time.



They almost make the car look like a different vehicle...at least to the un-trained eye.

I made the exact change that you did and I agree. The new turbo twist wheels look great. I kept the stock chromed 16's for winter/rain. The turbo twists that I have are 18's. I use those for summer and shows. I painted them polar silver to match the body. Nice ride.

I echo everyone's thoughts on a great event. My warmest thanks to all that made all of us newbies feel right at home the moment we walked in. Thank you to all that dedicated so much time, effort, and resources to make it a well organized and executed weekend. Your professionalism, camaraderie, and courtesy made it a definitive success.



On a more personal level, I want to sincerely thank Flash, Max (RS Barn), and Pete (RS Barn) as they all went out of their way to throw a life line at me after the Pocono North course abused left front wheel bearing decided to self destroy at the event. Mahalo Pete for helping sort the issues out and waiting for me to walk back. I can't thank Max enough for hustling to find tools and somehow pull the tire and cap to check out the bearing and try to band-aid, your hands are probably still dirty from that impossible to clean grease. And last, but most importantly, thanks to Flash. He waited for me to finally walk my way back to the event (2nd time) to leave, notwithstanding the increasingly obvious rain potential. The ride on his 968 to meet his trailer at the hotel was definitely one to remember (brilliant performance on this 968). Thank you for the ride back to Bucks county onboard the Mac Daddy Denali Tow Vehicle. That thing is also pretty darn awesome, talk about a tricked out tow vehicle.... I truly appreciate your patience and putting up with me all the way back. I owe all three of you (and whomever lend the torque wrench). I'll find a way to properly thank you.

No problems so far. I have about 200 miles on the new wheels and tires and there are zero signs of rubbing. The car seems to ride better with new rubber all the way around as the previous tires were half wore out and non-matching front to rear.



It was well worth the investment.

Your car along with a few other 968's were the reason why I made the switch. When I saw the picture of your car online I knew that was the look that I wanted. Then after I arrived in Hershey and saw several other 968's with the Turbo Twist wheels I knew that was the look.

Crespo (Pablo), I'm glad that your bearing problem was addressed. It was my torque wrench, which hopefully I'll retrieve from Pete in the next week or two. I would also have lent a hand, but the timing was such that Don was organizing the caravan to the AACA museum at the same time as your problem came to my attention. But, at least my wrench got into the act. Welcome to the world of 968 ownership - it is a great group.

It was another informative and eye catching celebration. The RS was certainly a spectacular car. Just wish they would have made more of them. 50 cars at it's peak and there were some people that attended without cars. A special kudo to Flash for making the trip from CA. No matter what anyone says he is certainly devoted to the 968. I found a Saratoga top (good news) but it was an early mechanical type for a 944 (bad news). It wasn't worth $650 to try and convert it to a automatic top, I passed. The weather was typical for April, spirtized on the way to Hershey but held off on any downpours. The caravan was a no sweat, everyone got to the museum together and no excursions thru parking lots. Good to see a lot of new faces. I missed some people I wanted to meet. The fun run in Newtown was an excellent culmantion to the weekend. It was a nice complement to the "show". Getting out and run thru the back roads of Bucks county was great fun despite having a slow driving Boxster in front of us. I was toward the back of the 7 car train so it was even more fun playing catch up. The new M030 sway bars worked great. Thanks Jay for putting that part together. Having seen Flash's seats I am more in love than before. Now if I can only convince my wife that they are a "safety" feature. No problems with the car, it ran beautifully. no tickets either.

Just re-read this thread and saw some notes I wanted to acknowledge. You're very welcome for the cocktail party and wine. Ok, so now my secret's out....I always travel with 9 bottles of wine, stemware, cheese, crackers, grapes, munchies, chairs, & tables. I was playing with the ZEL earlier this evening. Getting it apart is no small challenge - which I haven't accomplished yet. Not breaking tabs, and not having all of the internal contacts "explode" is going to test my patience and creativity. It's put aside for now - which may be for quite a while.
