I have to admit I did not really pay too much attention to the awards passed out for Friday's gathering so I can't tell you who won anything, I just enjoyed checking out the cars and talking with the owners. This morning there were 41 968s in a line driving to the swap meet and then driving passed the rest of the people to our reserved parking area next to the concours area. It was an impressive site listening to the reactions of those watching. Don did a nice job as usual and we were the only group with our own parking area. I didn't take too many pictures and most of those were terrible.

Jay put a nice photo in Miles Thread. There were many pictures taken and I'm sure the people will posting more as the drag home. The day started rather early since most of us were outside before 7am this morning after a long day for most of us the day before.

As I expected, I had a great time seeing people from last year and meeting new friends that share the same passion. I will attach some pictures and I must admit I was drawn to the more rare colors as they sprinkled our rare cars with extra special rareness. Bare with me as I am a novice photographer.

Don, I know these take a lot of planning so thank you, thank you, thank you!

RJ, kudos on driving here from TEXAS!

Flash, you car is amazing and to trailer it here from CA, wow!

Kathy the wine and cheese added extra fun and was very thoughtful.

I bought some t-shirts, a metal Porsche sign, some crested valve-stem caps, and a key chain.

My face is sunburnt or maybe windburnt because I had a "spirited" ride home.

There were a few other Porsches there but I did not pay much attention.

Several of us grabbed up beautiful 968 coupe and cab prints at the swap meet. The artist's name is Kevin Bookman, if you google him you can probably track some more limited edition prints down (mine is #11 of 100 of the coupe prints). All the 968 prints at the meet sold very quickly! I think he only had 3-4 of each.

More on the celebration and pics later! Thanks again, Kathy, for the wine!

Right above my name, in my last post, is a picture of Flash's 968 with the hood open.

Re the Kevin Bookman prints - I had a discussion with him about a group buy. I'll be starting a separate thread with some photos of the prints and t-shirts he can supply. So, have just a modicum of patience, and we might all be able to enjoy.

That's very cool. They really are beautifully rendered and I think a lot of folks here would love them.

Well, the event was a blast. We picked up a few more 968s at the swap so i think there were about 50 cars. My son made the score at the swap finding a boxed dealer 968 launch kit for $30. Don offered him $70 for it but we said no as it is a piece we didn't have. The weather gods smiled on us as Friday was cloudy and Saturday was beautiful. The swap was a lot of fun. there must have been 500 different Porsche's there. It was great to see everyone there. The cars all looked great.

Here are some more pics from Friday and Saturday

A few more. Again, special thanks to Don for all of his hard work putting this great event together. Also, thanks to all the old 968 hands who went out of their way to make us newbies feel welcome.

Now to install that chip and strut brace!

Hello All,

Here is a quick overhead pic of Friday's wash/shine and judging. I think we picked up a few more cars later that evening and another couple on Saturday. Anyone have a grand total? I think I counted 41 overall. Is that the most at one time/place?

I hope to have all my pics posted somewhere soon.

Thanks again to Don and all the attendees for making it a successful event. I just enjoyed seeing all the P-cars at the swap meet parking lot...very cool indeed.

KUDOS AND HUGE THANKS TO DON!!!! We can't thank you enough, Don, for all your hard work and for making everything run so smoothly. You made this a completely enjoyable experience, and you've done so much at this event and otherwise to help the 968 gain a real place on the Porsche podium. There is no other group (except the 356ers) who has the special comraderie that we have, and you've done so much to make that happen.

And thanks to all the volunteers who helped make this weekend such a success. I'm sure it was like herding cats, but you all did a spectacular job. Couldn't have happened without you.

MANY MANY THANKS to everyone who came from near and far (California and Texas and so many other places). It was an truly an honor to spend time with you all. It was my first event and thanks to your open arms and welcoming nature, I've made lifelong friends. We 968ers have a unique bond and it was outstanding to see that we dominated the swap meet concours...we certainly earned the respect of other Porsche owners! (Cool photo, Darryl!!! Can't wait to see pic's from other folks too.)

It was awesome, from my vantage point at the back of the pack, to see 50 968s in the parade of cars ahead of me, all with blinkers on, driving on the roads to the swap meet...amazing!!! It made me feel proud to be part of this group. It was a kick to see heads turning and admiring gazes of passersby. This would never have been possible without so many of you coming from so many places...thanks for an indelible memory!

Thanks to the sponsors who so generously donated to our door prizes and the event...awesome! And thanks to our guest speakers and the Central region PCA hosts who contributed so much to our 968 event as well.

I have never experienced such comraderie in my life with so many people who share a simple common interest...thanks everyone for a truly enjoyable and memorable weekend.

For those who can make it next year in New Mexico, it is absolutely worth the trip. Thanks for taking it on for next year, Bob Blackwell!

I, too, want to publicly thank Don for all of his hard work to make the 2007 968 Celebration a truly great one. Thanks, Don. Let's do it again.

I also have an important announcement. This is the first Celebration at which I made it through Virginia in both directions WITHOUT getting a speeding ticket. I love the state but for some reason the police there really don't love me. This time they let me slide through.
