2 Questions - latch & alarm
#1

Hey guys. As I start to spend more time in the car I have come up with 2 quick questions.

One, I can't get the leather "door" behind the driver seat to ever latch. This is the door that I have to fold down to velcro the boot in place. The passenger side works just fine, but it seems the driver's side one just can't click in. Hence, in normal driving it has a tendency to flip open. No real problem, just annoying. Anyone else have this problem? I looked at the latch mechanism and it seems to be working properly.

Also, my alarm system is ULTRA sensitive. I can't even lock the car for fear that a strong wind will set the alarm off...literally. I believe it is a stock system. The antitheft start disable still sets itself after a minute or so and I have to press button 1 on the key fob to turn it off (button 2 does the trunk), but if I actually set the alarm as I leave it will go off at some point. Previous owner had the battery die once on him because of this.

Every day I go to work I smile as I get in this car though. It is so much fun to drive. I am looking forward to getting some of these issues resolved so I can just enjoy it worry free. Thanks.

I don't think you have a "stock" alarm system. I am not aware of the stock system having controls on the key. The stock system is turned on when your lock the car and the door lock tip flashes red, that's it.

The latch mechanism turns in its hole on these doors and then does not line up with the catch. Just twist it back into alignment and then tighten to keep it from twisting again.

I might have an aftermarket, but it would have been done by the first owner. I have a small black fob with two buttons on it. #1 controls the locks and #2 controls the rear hatch. I also have a small red light in front of the shifter that blinks. I have to press button 1 to get this light to stop blinking before I can start the car. I thought I remembered seeing something about the small red light in the owners manual, hence I thought it was stock.
