Airbag Light
#1

I have an Airbag warning lamp, on steadily. I also, have a Durametric, so I'm going to give it a try and see if it reveals any codes.I am hoping a simple reset is all I need. I think it is the passenger side, but I don't recall why I think this...may have been a long time ago when I first looked into this.

If I need to remove the electronic unit for the airbag, (or check for bad connections) which I believe is under the footwell board on the passenger. is there any danger of deploying the bag? This may sound like a dumb question, but I worked on F-4E's in the AF, and there are something like 12 ways to eject yourself from one of them. I have learned prudence when near dangerous stuff.

TIA

Pat

I'm no mechanic, let alone a fighter jet mechanic. Resetting the airbag warning light with my OBD tool does the job for me - every time. Start with the simplest intervention.

Bag light is the bane of my 968 ownership. Mechanic triggered it by turning ignition with battery out... Had a friend come by with a Durametric but didn't work. Can't find a Hammer anywhere. Maybe its a bad airbag module. Second time I will have replaced that.  :whine:

Apex are you sure the clock spring is still ok?

Thanks for that! Maybe a fix is possible. But I'd still need to reset the fault with dura metric or equivalent right?

So... How do I check the clock spring?

I broke mine when I had the steering rack disconnected, second hand ones should be easy to find. You can test the clock spring easily with an Ohmmeter. It's basically just a long extension cord for the airbag. If the Ohmmeter reads infinite or '1' it's busted.

The fault will have to be reset with a Hammer or Durametric. You can still reset it with a broken spring but after a few seconds the light comes back on again.

On Youtube you can easily find a vid that can help with the specifics.

Good luck, if it's the spring it's an easy fix!
